I suspect the figure is overblown for clicks but why the heck are sugary drinks even allowed to be purchased with EBT/SNAP?

And then taxpayer funded Medicaid pays to fix the poor's cavities.....We pay the "poor" to get fat, then pay even more to give them free medical care for their chosen obesity.

Food stamps should change from default accept to default deny. It shouldn't be "you can buy anything except XYX." Move to "You can't buy anything except ABC. Then make food manufacturers apply to qualify their products.

Everything the .gov touches turns out to be a grift. :eusa_wall:

I don't live in the states, but when I go there I am always amazed how fat people are, especially those who seem poor.

So now you guys want a nanny state. Gotcha.

That comes from staying inside and eating.

Most people in America used to go outside most of the day back in the 60s and 70s.

Nobody had air-conditioning.

The "poors" getting EBT/SNAP do so off the generosity of the producers of the country so fuck yeah, we should get to set the standards of what is allowed/not allowed.

Get off of the EBT/SNAP and then you can buy anything you want on your own dime.

Yet when Michelle Obama was promoting nutritional standards in federally funded school lunches, the right vilified her.

It’s not about health, it’s about denigration of poor people.

Why is the nanny state buying kids lunches?

Her kids ate well at Sidwell private school.....Public schools, not so much.

I sometimes shop at a Kroger near a "food desert" and the poor's are pushing shopping carts stacked to the top with chips, sodas, microwaveable garbage of all shapes and sizes, hardly a vegetable to be seen anywhere.

Hardly a BMI under 30 to be seen anywhere as well.

The United States has the fattest and most fed poor people in the world.
