Heading to Chicago's Midway airport tomorrow to honor some World War II veterans returning from a day in Washington D.C. visiting the WW II and Korean War Memorials, the Smithsonian, etc.

It's part of the Honor Flights program that sponsors free flights for WW II vets from various cities around the country as a tribute to their sacrafices and services to our nation in our time of need so many years ago.

Each veteran requires - due to their advanced ages I assume - a volunteer escort for the trip, and a friend of ours is accompanying her 90-year-old father on tomorrow's jaunt.

A tradition has begun whereby relatives, friends, strangers, etc. are encouraged to gather at the airport to cheer, thank them for their service, or otherwise honor them upon their return. So, if you're in or around the Chicago area tomorrow and want to participate you're invited to do so.

Their Honor Flight is Southwest flt. 8213 charter, due in at 8:10pm. Officials suggest anyone interested should meet in Baggage Claim Area 1 at 7:10, and we'll all find out what the procedure will be from there.

They're estimating a crowd of about 3500, so here's a chance for all to help cap off their great day and make yourself feel good about making others feel good.
