Bloomberg To Force Flu Vaccines For All NYC Children...

No matter how you feel about that. You think the government should be able to force people to get one?

I've never had one in almost 60 years

Individuals do not have a right to shoot their firearms towards me nor to infect me with a disease.

.

Hate to tell you, but a flu vaccine is not going to prevent that 100%. With the number of different types of flu viruses, and that fact that the vaccine can only prevent so many, you could still catch the flu from someone that's been vaccinated after you've been vaccinated.

Nobody said it would.

But it does prevent the most vulnerable of the population..children, older people, people with compromised immune systems, from dying off by the gross.

The people who are raising their kids in that pesthole have rocks between their ears, anyway...

There you go. States rights in action.

Exactly.

If the people of New York City don't like it, they're going to have to do something about it themselves. Namely, quit electing liberals like Bloomberg, and put in office people who believe that government's functions should be limited to things ordinary private citizens CAN'T do.

Until the people of New York City do that, they're going to get exactly the government they deserve - the government they voted for.

I think most people are okay with kids being protected by a flu shot when their parents won't do the job. Same with mandatory seat belts for minors. I'm sure a large majority support such measures.

The 16 oz. cup limitation (or whatever it was), on the other hand, is just stupid.

Unfortunately, you can't pick and choose which big-government laws you can obey and which ones you don't have to. Once you elect big-government politicians, you have to accept and obey ALL of them... plus all the ones they will impose on you in the future. And history shows that once the govt is given such broad power, they will ALWAYS use it, and expand it, and regulate and restrict you more and more, without end.

That's why some people believe it's better to keep the power to make all those laws, OUT of the hands of the politicians. And put up with the responsibility of doing the important things themselves, and talking their friends and neighbors into doing them too.

Neither of these solutions is perfect. But some people believe the latter solution is the better one.

Those people are called "conservatives".

90 percent who died were not vaccinated.

This is what pisses me off about these morons. The kids pay the price of their parents' stupidity.

I won't get one because both times I did, I was sick as a dog!

Yes because it will prevent epidemic and pandemic.

Assumes facts not in evidence! A flu vaccine is the vaccine-maker's best guess, no more and no less!

I know what a flu vaccine is.

The fact of the matter is, it vaccinates against a strain of flu. Does that mean your kids won't get hit by some OTHER flu? Nope. But that's the nature of it.

Religion cuts across political lines. I have a feeling "those people" are called "citizens." ;)

I haven't had one in over a decade and I'm fine. And unless you're some sort of scientific researcher or medical professional I wouldn't exactly say you're a credible enough expert to be speaking about what these vaccines will or will not do.

The only year I took the shot is the only time I have had the flu in 50+ years...

Bloomberg has gone overboard, he needs to leave this alone, he needs to deal with the poverty rate in NYC...

Perry tried that crap with the HPV vaccine...

There are larger issues to deal with and administer to...

There are several strains of Flu and many different Flu vaccines...

It is not this simple...

I think it's OK that the children of conservatives follow their parents wishes and don't get vaccinated. I applaud their independence and belief in "spiritual healing". I will even send flowers.

Bad Karma dude. Wishing death on people for merely holding different political views is pretty messed up. You may want to seek some help. Politics has driven you mad. I'll pray for ya.

Having a son with severe autism, I can tell you that I have looked into this matter and the whole vaccine-autism dichotomy was a concoction of an individual who used fraudulent data and was later found to have a conflict of interest for ties to a vaccine company. He lost his licence, but the tainted public perception he created has endured.

Retracted autism study an 'elaborate fraud,' British journal finds

(CNN) -- A now-retracted British study that linked autism to childhood vaccines was an "elaborate fraud" that has done long-lasting damage to public health, a leading medical publication reported Wednesday.

An investigation published by the British medical journal BMJ concludes the study's author, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, misrepresented or altered the medical histories of all 12 of the patients whose cases formed the basis of the 1998 study -- and that there was "no doubt" Wakefield was responsible.

Now, look how many people have died because they were not vaccinated -

The United States Anti-Vaccination Movement is composed of a variety of individuals ranging from former doctors who should know better, to semi-celebrities who have no medical training, to anti-government conspiracy theorists who distrust anything that the government says. They all hold onto the mistaken belief that autism is caused by receiving childhood vaccines.

Most anti-vaccination believers claim that the compound Thimerosal led to an increase in autism cases. The Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine is their usual target. However, Thimerosal was never used as a preservative in the Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccine. No vaccine licensed since 1999 has contained Thimerosal as a preservative, except a few multi-dose container vaccines such as some (but not all) HIB and Influenza vaccines. Autism has not declined since 1999, thereby disproving this connection. However, this has not stopped anti-vaccination believers from claiming that it was the MMR vaccine itself that caused autism or that it was vaccines in general that caused autism. All of these ideas have been disproven in multiple scientific and legal examinations of the evidence. The primary scientific reason for the increase in autism diagnoses is due to more disorders being included in the Autism Spectrum and doctors getting better at diagnosing the characteristics of autism.

In 2007 there was an increase in celebrities promoting anti-vaccination rhetoric. Because of their celebrity status they appeared on several television shows and published multiple books advising parents not to vaccinate their children. This has led to an increase in the number of vaccine preventable illnesses as well as an increase in the number of vaccine preventable deaths.

The Anti-Vaccination Movement has a body count attached to its name. This website publishes the total number of vaccine preventable illnesses and vaccine preventable deaths that have happened in the United States since this 2007 increase in speaking out against vaccines.

Is the United States Anti-Vaccination Movement directly responsible for every vaccine preventable illness and every vaccine preventable death listed here? No. However, the United States Anti-Vaccination Movement may be indirectly responsible for at least some of these illnesses and deaths and even one vaccine preventable illness or vaccine preventable death is too many.

Anti-Vaccine Body Count

The Vaccine issue is very complex. There are problems. And many of the serious problems are only realized many years after the fact. It's not as much about being 'Anti-Vaccine' as it is about being opposed to Governments forcing them on Citizens. Personally, i'm not 'Anti-Vaccine.' However i am against intimidation and force. And that's what Governments around the World are engaging in when they force them on Citizens. So being opposed to such intimidation and force, doesn't necessarily make you 'Anti-Vaccine.'

I have a right to prevent you from infecting me either via vaccines or quarantine.

Call me a 'Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist', but i predict Big Brother will use a fear of 'Spread of Disease' to put American Citizens on Lockdown for good. Stay tuned.

That mentality can lead to a very dangerous Slippery Slope.

Oh bull. When the smallpox vaccine came out, police went door to door and literally dragged children out for their vaccinations.

People in this country have no idea what epidemic looks like. Trust me, you don't want to watch your kids and parents die of the flu, and you don't want to be in a place where 7 out of 10 of the families you know have lost someone(s) to it.
