I want the option that our Founding Fathers picked, ie a Representative Republic, with strong protections for the rights of individuals and seperations of powers.

It is very telling that you did not include that option in your poll.

Are you really unaware of that as an option? how did that level of ignorance come to be?
So you are saying that you support the Constitution right?

So if Trump tries to go against (or change) the Constitution, you would be against it, no?

Bottom line is about the Constitution. Do people want to support that or not. The Constitution offers checks and balances that prevent any one person doing what they want. Trump has been doing Autocratic actions, meaning he is going against the Constitution. Should we allow it or not?
The entire Democrat Party has corrupted our Constitution, turning our republic into a democracy.

Why do you not support the Constitution?

For some weird reason, they don't want to just admit that the term "democracy" is simply a VERY commonly used catch-all for people being able to vote for their representatives, which includes representative republics.

I don't know why they need to parse the word like that. Maybe they just want to quibble.
It's because of the word itself.

These simplistic morons want the government to be republican because they are republicans.

Not democratic because they hate Democrats.

Branding.

That's really all it is.

So why do you support all the anti trans/gay stuff and tRump ignoring the courts?

Agreed. It also offers similar checks and balances that prevent the majority from doing whatever it wants. We need to respect both kinds of limits.

I do support it. Nonetheless, I am not the one that can make the guidelines of the Constitution work (or not). That depends on ALL Americans (not just me) for that to occur.

Having said that, I do not agree with your statement about the Democrats having corrupted our Constitution. Nonetheless, neither your opinion or mine changes anything. What needs not to change are the checks and balances that the Constitution calls for. In other words, no one person has the right to change them, as Trump has stated and his actions shown.

When asked if he would keep his oath of supporting the Constitution, his answer was "I don't know, my lawyers will tell me what can be done and what can't".

As a president who took the oath of office, he should know what the Constitution says can be done or not. When you go to the lawyers to do that, it means you are trying to finding legal ways to get around the Constitution.

that is what elections are for.

Republicans have been pushing for Autocracy, given that their way of thinking since 2008 has been "our way or the highway", and that is favoring an Autocracy.
After two scam impeachments and multiple phony lawfare cases, you have just broken the irony meter again.

that is what elections are for.
No. That's what the Constitution is for. You're only seeing half the picture. This is why Republicans say "we're not a democracy". You guys seem to think that anything blessed by the majority is fair game.

You don't have to agree with history. That's your prerogative.

But it's true, of course. The purpose of the Constitution was to constitute a new government. It would regulate this government. After the Progressive Era, however, it not only regulates the government; it also regulates the people.

A Democrat's wet dream.

Does your answer mean that you support Autocracy?

Unfortunately, Trump is offering no other options. He is following that Autocrat guidelines to a tee. Research them

Your poll didn't specify anything other than "would you rather..." and you gave 2 choices, that many wouldn't choose.

The Constitution clearly states that the electoral majority wins.

You do know the Constitutional statement that says "of the people, by the people and for the people", don't you.

Do you seriously not understand this concept? This is why conservatives say we're "not a democracy". What they really mean is that we're not an unlimited democracy. Which is, apparently, how you think things should work.

This is NOT an OP that is here to make a point. It is not in favor of the Republicans (Trump) or the Democrats (whoever they choose), nor criticizing either.

This is simply an OP that asks a simple question as to whether you prefer to have an Autocracy where one man makes the decisions or a Democracy where decisions are made by the majority.

Both of these options have their cons/negatives.

It is clear that for the last decade, people are unhappy and complaining more every day. They have not received what they want and want that to change. Trump comes into the picture 8 years ago and promises to make things better but for that to happen, many of the restrictions associated with Democracy interfered with that occurring. As such, he came into this second presidency with the aim of making that happen. For that to occur, the restrictions of a Democratic Republic following the Constitution need to be removed, meaning that our Democratic Republic would disappear.

Everything in life has a positive and a negative and this situation is about choosing Anarchy or Democracy. This OP is not about discussing the positives or the negatives of either but about getting an idea of which of the two is more likely to win in the end (2028).
Not enough poll options to vote. Direct Democracy where the population vote in referendums on specific policies/matters, such as the Swiss government.

So you are saying that you support the Constitution right?

So if Trump tries to go against (or change) the Constitution, you would be against it, no?

Kind of a fast jump there on your part, from abstract principles to a specific person in a vague hypothetical.

Why diddn't you include an option for our actual system?

We are a constitutional republic.
