For ten long years, Democratic leaders have cast themselves as the unbreakable shield protecting American democracy from the supposed authoritarian darkness of Donald J. Trump and his Republican allies.
Since Trump's 2016 victory, this self-proclaimed role as defenders of norms, institutions, and fair elections has formed the beating heart of the blue political identity.
That framing sharpened into a razor during the 2018 midterms.
Democrats portrayed the contest as a desperate stand to safeguard voting rights, checks and balances, and rule of law itself. Blue candidates hammered home investigations and alleged oversight as purportedly essential barriers to Trump's influence. Their strategy delivered a House flip in a massive blue wave.
This theme only grew louder.
Joe Biden launched his 2020 bid and presidency by declaring democracy America's sacred cause. Once in office, he and Kamala Harris warned that Trump and MAGA Republicans endangered the republic's survival, pointing to Jan. 6 and election disputes. Harris carried the same banner into 2024, framing her campaign as the last line of defense for institutions and norms.
This message dominated party communications, often eclipsing other voter concerns.
Even after Trump and congressional Republicans trounced the blue team, Democrats clung to their script. They continue rallying around alleged threats to institutional independence and liberal democracy as the midterms near. The party positions itself as the essential bulwark against “democratic backsliding,” a stance that has defined its identity across a full decade.

Voters faced the referendum on March 6 — the very first day of early voting — with a ballot question promising to “restore fairness.” Early votes made up about 45 percent of the total. The measure passed by roughly 3.38 percent. If only about half of that winning margin flipped, then the referendum would have failed.
The Virginia Supreme Court saw through the maneuver.
On May 8, in a ruling by Justice D. Arthur Kelsey, the court held that the legislative process violated Article XII, Section 1 of the Virginia Constitution. That provision requires proposed amendments to pass two separate legislative sessions separated by a full intervening general election of the House of Delegates.

The Democrats did not make a minor procedural hiccup. They made a deliberate attempt to bypass constitutional guardrails established to prevent hasty, partisan changes to the commonwealth's fundamental law. Democrats formerly championed expansive reforms to end gerrymandering. Now they did the opposite for raw advantage.
Their response proved even more revealing.
After the 4-3 decision against them, some Democrats immediately floated ideas to pack or overhaul the Virginia Supreme Court. Proposals included slashing the mandatory retirement age for justices, potentially to 53 or 54. That would oust current members so a Democratic legislature could install replacements more friendly to blue maps.

Democrats who spent a decade thundering about so-called threats to democracy revealed themselves willing to violate constitutional procedures, gerrymander aggressively for a 10-1 congressional edge, and then contemplate stacking the high court that dared enforce the rules. Their lofty rhetoric collapsed the instant it clashed with the pursuit of power.
The hypocrisy carries real consequences.
Virginia's voters deserved the deliberate process their constitution demands. An intervening election gives citizens a genuine chance to think about life-altering constitutional crossroads. Over a million early voters were effectively denied that opportunity because Democrats would not wait. Such maneuvers erode trust in institutions far more than any Republican rhetoric ever could.
This episode raises the stakes for November's midterms to historic levels.

Democrats know that their 100 plus years run of lies, cheating, scamming and racism are over. Trump ran the table in WV and Nebraska, gaining 9 seats for the GOP!
Racial gerrymandering GONE!

Americans are fully aware of Democrat cheating!
Democrats also have no one either on deck or at bat, to face J.D. Vance, M. Rubio, or P. Hegseth, etc., in 2028.
The Democrats have been spitting on this Country and our Constitution since the Woodrow Wilson Administration! It is nothing new for the Democrats attacking everything this Country and the Rule of Law was founded on and stands for! It was begun when the Wilson Administration segregated the military and passed the 17th Amendment and stripped States of their Constitutional right for representation in the Senate! The Democrats have attacked our voting system to make it easier for them to CHEAT to win elections! The Democrats violated our immigration laws while the Republicans sat around with the thumbs up their asses and made no attempt to stop the Democrats! The Democrat's GOAL is the total subjugation of Americans citizens to their Rule and Power!
The GOP runs the table during the Mid-terms.
The Democrats are in total disarray and are infighting like Commies do.
