When Stay at Home Health Orders were issued...and marching thru the streets protesting was not on the "acceptable reasons to leave home".
Protesters maskless, another fine could be issued.

Yep, the Covid crap is a nice cover for authoritarianism, fascism, communism, dictatorships, etc. Even with the best intentions, it's too easy and tempting for a gov't using martial law tactics to make that control permanent. Problem is that here in America the citizenry is so divided that even when there is common ground for agreement, people on either side of the fence would rather die than agree with each other.

There are more than enough weapons in circulation to give any military pause to try and invade/occupy America....whether the enemy is domestic or foreign.

Bit off topic here...the discussion is about Australian martial law response to the pandemic and the gurn rights enthusiats assertions. Nuke arms is international treaty stuff...a whole other smoke.

The govts were trying to, and did, to the best of their ability, keep the population safe from catching Covid/Covid Delta.
Govts stopped the hospital ICUs from being overrun and tens of thousands of people dying and being maimed for life.
The People knew that the Health Orders were the best way to keep them safe.
The downunder People, despite the "dumb, drunk, racist, and backward" global tag...are actually very intelligent, mostly.

And voting in elections is compulsory. Don't vote, and you get fined.
And if you don't pay the fine the govt cancels your drivers licence.
If you drive without a licence you get fined even more, and you lose your insurance. And your licence is suspended for a longer term.
Drive an unregistered vehicle, large fines for that too...cop cars have electronic monitoring in their vehicles that identify unregistered vehicles.
Oh, and there are speed cameras everywhere, fixed and mobile. You get sent a fine in the mail.
Same deal with cell phone use while driving cameras...large fines for that too. Fines arrive in the mail.
