WHy be any religion?

The problem with Christianity is that it's customized to appeal to certain groups of people. We'll find a version of Jesus you agree with.
The highest reason for religion (philosophy) is for it to be a guiding star amidst the chaos of life. People train and practice in being the best version of themselves and their ideals so that they can win out over chaos when it comes their way. No one shows up at the Olympics unprepared. If we don't show up for games unprepared, why face the challenges of life unprepared?

There is no problem with Christianity any more than there is a problem with any tool. Learn to use it properly and great things may be built. Use tools haphazardly, and at some point, what you built will fall apart.

Since the bible condemns to the core the usage of statues, icons and graven images, then WHY does catholicism have their homes and churches filled with all 3?
The Bible condemns idols, not art. For example, art was used in the construction and decor of the ark of the covenant. No one considered the cherubs on the ark idols for the every obvious reason they were not.

By the way, photographs qualify as graven images. Have you a photo album or portraits around the home? Probably--because, obviously, they are not idols.

Many of the things the 10 commandments address already existed as laws in societies before the bible was written

In fact not even half of the commandments actually translate into laws that exist now or even before the OT was written
Old news. Learned that as a child in Catholic school. Is it only Catholics who are aware of these things? It seems it is always astonishing news to people of no faith. Some kids need to pay better attention in history classes, especially ancient history.

Our laws are not based on the 10 commandments as many claim they are

Laws are a human invention not a divine one

The Ten Commandments, at least in Western Culture, is a well-known example of rule by law. It is the philosophy of the rule of law which makes them similar--not the laws themselves.

As far as being divine...some may have that spark of divinity while others do not.

Seems to me the 10 commandments were more concerned with thought crimes.

At the discretion of the painter. Prior to that the painting only existed as potential in the mind of the painter.
.
in fact, primordial earth existed long before the painter, painted - it.

you have not proven time and space have ever not existed, the Everlasting - whether occupied or not.

Obviously. Just like no need for me to enforce school rules at home.

The Ten Commandments are laws governing the behavior of practicing Jews and Christians on how to live in faith--and have nothing to do with anyone else. Citizens have their own--very numerous--laws, a few that lead to nothing but death and destruction. Have at it.
.
no, they are derived from a historical perspective that is corrupted by those "religions" and are accountable for their subject matter to the general public -

the 10 commandments were destroyed deliberately - no one knows what they were or their content and makes those that use them a political and not religious congregation not protected by the u s constitution's separation of church and state.

- prove time and space have ever not existed - has nothing to do with your reply.

your repetition does not alleviate your error from the first time you have made it to the present nor ever into the future.
The presence of matter/energy is what creates time and space. No matter/energy, no time and space.

Now you tell me what created the cosmic background radiation in your infinite acting universe.

Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

But overall far superior ethically and morally to the ten commandments.
For personal rule, it is the Ten Commandments. For national rule...doubtful. Nations tend to sink to the lower denominator.

Oh? In what way?
Much more ethical and complete. And really, you can thank superior, secular philosophy, which has displaced most of the iron age mythology that was one of our first and worst attempts at morality. You carry the same iron age handbook, yet your morals are far superior to a 13th century Christian. What changed? Not the Bible.... not the 10 commandments...

Scientific enlightenment, classical liberalism, and the re-emergence of Aristotelean and Hellenistic thought, after a millennium of being sequestered by religious jerkoffs. These are what you can thank for your modern, superior morality.
