Going into the Super Bowl all the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did was beat the 12 & 4 New Orleans Saints, and Drew Brees. A week later beat the 13 & 3 Green Bay Packers, led by Aaron Rogers. Still the know-it-all sports press almost all predicted the Kansas City Chiefs to win the big game.

The Bucs shut all their mouths with a convincing 31 to 9 blowout of the Chiefs, in which the Chiefs hardly won anything but the coin toss. They didn't even score a single touchdown.

Clearly, the Tampa Bay Bucs are the # 1 team in the NFL, and by a considerably large margin. They have not lost a game since November, when the team finally put all its new parts together. Tom Brady, Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette, etc

And why the doubt in the first place ? >> With possibly the best corps of receivers in the NFL, including Mike Evans (only receiver in NFL history to catch over 1000 yards in his first 7 seasons). Top notch running backs Fournette and Ronald Jones (only one of 2 backs to run for over 200 yards/game twice - other was Derrick Henry).

The Chiefs had won 12 in a row that Mahomes had started (KC rested players in week 17), Kelce broke the record for most receiving yards by a TE this season, Tyreek Hill is possibly the most explosive player in the NFL, and KC won the Super Bowl last year.

However, it wasn't the Tampa offense that really got them to and won the Super Bowl for them, it was the defense. When Brady tried to give the game to Green Bay with 3 interceptions in the second half, the Tampa D held the packers to just 1 score off of those turnovers. In the SB, the Bucs D dominated, putting pressure on Mahomes on just about every drop back. Of course the offense did well, but without the defensive performances, the Bucs would not have gotten their championship. For all the hype put on Brady, it really was a team effort that did it.

I wouldn't say the Bucs are the best team "by a considerably large margin." The Chiefs lost their starting left tackle the game before the Super Bowl, and that clearly played a part in how the game went. A different bounce here or there, one or two different calls by the refs, and it would have been Green Bay going to the Super Bowl. The Bucs are the champs, but they aren't head and shoulders above all other teams.

Actually, the Bucs had to go through and beat Washington, New Orleans AND Green Bay to get into the SuperBowl!

KC only had to beat Cleveland (?) and the Bills?

Then the buccs went on to kick KC and Mahomes a New Mudhole like a rag doll.

Brady was right. Tampa HADN'T yet played their best ball.

The shock of seeing KC's lackluster, embarrassing lack of performance was so bad, it sent poor Marty Schottenheimer to his grave.
