Trump Risks Losing Suburban Women Over Abortion

Abortion is the most powerful issue driving suburban women who could decide the presidential election. Now President Biden is trying to harness that energy, while Donald Trump is looking to redirect it.

A recent Wall Street Journal poll of seven battleground states found that 39% of suburban women cite abortion as a make-or-break issue for their vote—making it by far the most motivating issue for the group. Nearly three-quarters of them say the procedure should be legal all or most of the time, and a majority thinks Trump’s policies are too restrictive.

Abortion has been top of mind for voters since the 2022 Supreme Court decision eliminating federal protections for the procedure, which unfurled a messy patchwork of state laws across the country.

Those moves are reverberating in the suburban areas where women helped deliver the White House to Trump in 2016 and swung it to Biden in 2020.

Trump, meanwhile, has struggled to find his footing on the issue. While he has repeatedly bragged about the 2022 decision, saying Friday, “We broke Roe v. Wade,” he has also sought distance by saying decisions should be made by the states. But the Arizona ruling underscored the risks with that strategy: After initially saying it was a state issue, Trump later said the Arizona court had gone too far and that the governor and state legislature should “remedy what has happened.”

No wonder Republicans are running away from the issue. Even Conservatives like Kari Lake are disavowing the Arizona abortion ban ruling.

I hope the Biden campaign keeps hammering away at the fact that Trump has to take responsibility for the SC decision to overturn Roe vs Wade.
Don't they deliver papers to your part of the forest

LOL! The majority of the pro-life movement are women.

The small number of racist, pro-abort white lefty women (the worst people on the planet) isn't going to change anything.

Sure and when you lose you will throw a hissy fit and claim the Dems stole the election. Is that still the plan?

LOL on these headlines that you throw out. And when I ask you to post a link, you be MIA, as usual. :itsok:

It should be a make-or-break issue for every woman.

1 million American women have pregnancy complications resulting in miscarriage/still birth every year. Timely treatment is necessary, not just to help the woman through the failure of the pregnancy, but to ensure that she'll still be able to have a child in future.

Republicans have banned all reproductive health care for the complications of pregnancy, since so many of them result in the termination of the pregnancy. Women in medical distress are being sent home untreated and told to come back when they're in real danger of dying.

Hospitals are refusing to treat women in pregnancy crisis for fear of being accused of giving abortions. They're closing their maternity wards and pre-natal care units for fear of law suits and/or arrests, and OB/GYN's are leaving states where abortion is banned because they cannot give proper treatment to patients.

Before Roe v Wade, women could at least get proper treatment for miscarriages and pregnancy complications. Now you get sent home to bleed out. The death rate for American women from the complications of pregnancy and childbirth, already the highest in the First World, have TRIPLED in states which have banned abortion.

The CDC has estimated that 80% of the women who die from the complications of pregnancy and childbirth in the USA, could have been saved.

Damn skippy women won't stand for it. Would YOU???

It is for me. I oppose abortion bans with no exceptions. But I equally oppose unrestricted abortion with no regulation whatsoever as does a substantial majority of Americans. I am aligned with Trump's philosophy on that.

Who decides on the restrictions? Hyper partisan men who have never been pregnant in their lives and who have no medical or biological training whatsoever???

On what should these restrictions be based?? Science says that abortion needs to be legal right up until the end. Late term abortions being the most necessary of all. Even before Roe v. Wade women could get medical care for miscarriages and still births. Now these women are sent home until they're in sepsis.

Last but not least, who is it that you don't trust to make proper or moral decisions - the women, or the doctors?????

Or the people can do it via referendum in each state. Liberty allows people to get it right or get it wrong. But a tiny oligarchy deciding for all the people will usually get it wrong.

It was a joke about the BluesLegend's typo and the fact that Joe is a pedo.
Lighten up.

Why do Trump Cult members tout their flagrant lies as "facts". "Facts" are truths which have established through evidence. You have no such evidence that Joe Biden has done any such thing.

So the question becomes, why are YOU obsessed with this lie????

Abortion is right where is should be.. with the people at the state level. At this point it has nothing to do with Trump.

Women have the right to pre-natal care in every state of the union. This is a WOMEN's rights issue, not a state's rights issue. Every woman has the right to expect the same standard of prenatal care regardless of where she lives.

”prenatal care” is this what you’re calling abortion now?
