How does one stop Antisemitism? Which is another word for Jew hatred .
First it was Judeophobia, and then a German Jew-hater changed the expression to Antisemitism in the 19th century. Nothing changes, It is all the same.

Many groups like to say that Jews are against Israel or against Judaism.

This one seems to be one of them. And there probably are many others, which I will post in the future.

Jew hatred may morph, but the intent is always the same.

Let us try to stop it.

Shafik expressed that the pro-Hamas camp and the overall environment on campus is causing direct harm to Jewish students and others and that antisemitism has no place on campus.

Shafik then says the university is not going to divest from Israel, but she’ll work with the investment management team to have the endowment’s holding published more frequently. Note that the endowment is at least partially invested in funds, which are highly regulated by the SEC.

Shafik also adds that she is determined for graduation to take place, especially because many of the current seniors were deprived of a high school graduation due to Covid. Some seniors are also the first in their families to graduate from college.

Yet, Shafik is still negotiating with the pro-Hamas illegal occupiers of the West Lawn and asks them to voluntarily leave.

We think President Shafik needs an MRI of her spine to see if it is present.

It is well past the time to turn the sprinklers on.

There is a deadline of 2pm today for pro-Hamas campers of
@Columbia and @BarnardCollege
to accomplish certain actions.

News outlets are reporting that the pro-Hamas illegal campers of the occupied West Lawn of
@Columbia have been formally notified that they must identify themselves to a university official and sign a form agreeing to an alternative resolution for the university policy violations the encampment posed by 2 pm TODAY.

Those who sign are eligible to complete the semester in good standing and will not be placed on suspension, if they adhere to obeying university policies. Those who don't vacate by 2 pm, "will be suspended pending further investigation" and barred from completing the spring 2024 semester.

If the encampment isn’t removed, the notice said: “we will need to initiate disciplinary procedures because of a number of violations of university policies. These are policies you agreed to adhere to when you joined our community.”

It noted that the university would offer “an alternative venue for demonstrations after the exam period and commencement have concluded.”

The alternative resolution said signees agree to disciplinary probation, to comply with university policies, and agree to participate in university disciplinary processes.

She's also one of the few (if only?) current presidents of a prestigious (and progressive) US university who was born to Muslim parents.

She's also likely the only current university president who spoke about terror as “a form of protest” — just months after 9/11.

Did the organizers and funders behind the protest think these factors would somehow make Shafik more "sympathetic" to their cause?

We may never get the real answer, but we certainly need to hear more from Shafik.

I've been following this episode since its inception, and I still know far too little about her. I hope to learn more about who she is and what she stands for soon
