The mind boggling hypocrisy of the right

For the past 3-4 years, the RIGHT has been saying they want to pay teachers and cops less, hire fewer teachers and cops, disenfranchise teachers and cops.

Then we have yet another school shooting and all of a sudden its the RIGHT that wants teachers and cops to watch over us, take care of us, fight back for us.

I wonder ... with the RIGHT want to pay teachers more for suddenly being forced onto the front lines?

Hell no.

you left wingers have no shame in lying, do YOU?

Just who would be inclined to obey your stricter regulations?
My GOD you are an idiot!

According to RDunceSquared, beating up on gun owners is the way to go. Perhaps really BIG signs saying "Absolutely positively no guns allowed" would really deter a madman.
The thing is, the big sign would likely work for you and I, but Adam Lanza? Not so much. End result, Lanza can kill unopposed.

Of couse that's true. Lanza violated something like 44 laws before he ever set foot in the school. Which other law would he have obeyed?

It's not a teacher's job to protect children from semi-automatic gunfire.

So, in a first grade classroom, just who's job is it?
We're talking about an immediate need here. We have a gunman at the door and 20 children have 10 or 15 seconds to live. No new law, no back ground checks, no psychologists identifying potential mass murderers is going to save lives. ONLY a firearm in the hands of someone not too timid to use it is going to effect the outcome here!
Granted, in a perfect world, no one would need to protect first graders from a hail of bullets.
Bottom line is, you are not going to end school shootings with laws. If making more laws was an effective way of getting criminals to obey the law, why not just make a law making it illegal to disobey the law?

Result: Utopia?

Good point.

Why stop there? We should make schools like prisons that keep people out instead of in. There would be big gates with bars where only top security are cleared, guarded by tanks. Walls made of concrete with barbed wire on the top would be mandatory. Intense physical and weapons training would be mandatory for all teachers. Machine guns would hang on walls.

Fuck, yeah!
Don't be stupid!
What result are you looking for? Do you want to save lives, or do you want to convince yourself and voters that you want to save lives.

We'd save more lives if we turned schools into armed camps.

Why do you hate children?

So whose job is it to keep kids secure if not the teachers? Still waiting for an answer.
And what is your solution to school killings?

Neither of them can offer a solution that has any chance of success, but if they can fool enough people into thinking they care, they will end up with disarmed subjects; more sheep to insure they stay in power.

I have to agree. Why not have metal detectors at the one and only door that would allow access to the school building. Plus random strip searches. Bullet proof glass in all exterior doors and windows. And electronic id's. There should be a squad of armed guards not only patrolling the halls but patrolling the school grounds. All teachers must have attended the NRA training camp each summer and must pass expert marksman training.......or no teaching cert. Also, teachers who apply with previous combat experience MUST be given preference in hiring. I think that at the high school level, letting kids drive their own cars to school must be stopped. It is only a matter of time before some kid that can't buy/steal a Bushmaster, makes his/her car into a bomb. No cars at school. Plus at the high school level, and if the student is at least 17 and can pass the expert marksman test, that student will be allowed to carry concealed.

And the NRA and the gun/ammo manufactuers will pay for all of this and more. Cause they are really REALLY serious about protecting those kids.

I don't have a solution. It sure as hell isn't arming teachers. There's something really fucked up in American society, and the proliferation of guns contributes to it.

Teachers are there to teach, not to be armed to the teeth. FFS, all these social conservatives lamenting that teachers shouldn't be raising kids or teaching abstinence because its too intrusive are now saying teachers should be armed to protect kids. Bizarre.

You're damned straight it's bizarre. It's bizarre that it is necessary to protect students from crazy motherfuckers that want to kill them. It's equally bizarre that you don't want to protect the students.

It's absolutely horrible that we live in a society where something like Sandy Hook is even possible, but the fact remains that, from time to time, an insane social misfit IS going to enter a school and try to kill kids.
Instead of jamming your thumbs in your ears and denying reality, why not do what we can to save lives while we look for ways to fix society?

If i am not mistaken... it IS a teachers job to protect the children. It IS a cops job to protect the public.[/COLOR]

Yet, you think we shouldn't put barbed wire and sentries around school yards to protect our children. Tsk, tsk.

Maybe teachers should carry hand grenades.

NFL players should be allowed to carry guns on the field. That way, when an insane fan starts shooting up a stadium - probably a Raiders fan - the players can take him out.

Central High School in Bridgeport CT has razor wire at the top of fences and 4 armed guards inside at all times. No school shooting have happened there since they started the policy.

You obviously know nothing about grenades, do you?

Stadiums already have security, but that doesn't stop the hyperbolic nonsense comparing arming teachers with NFL players.

But is it enough security?

We just won't be safe enough until all teachers look like this!

Oh, and let's cut teachers' pay.

Moochers.

Teachers should have rocket launchers too.
