It is not that Beck mentions it, he makes it political to the exclusion of other gods, and attempts to wrap the conservatives (this is hilarious) in the cross, claiming he is taking America back to god. The very fact that Beck tried to pass this off as non-political was, ironically, the most political thing about it.

It's a standard political take of the right to accuse the left of politicizing everything, so when the right claims they're not being political, they're politically contrasting themselves with the left.

I think he'd be ashamed of both parties - and I think he'd be disappointed in Americans who, 47 years later - are still talking about his skin color and not the content of his character...
