Carbonite seems too commercial. Maybe I am wrong. Any suggestions for remote back up of hard drive?

I researched those services a while back. Even signed up for a trial run. Depending on the amount of data, it takes quite a while to upload/download.

I back everything up once a week, then lock the external drive in a fireproof safe.

Best off site back up is... large USB harddrive and a safety deposit box in a bank.

What are you trying to backup? If it is not important business data there is plenty of free storage out there. If you want to back up something important that could get you in trouble if you use it I would use Mozy or Carbonite.

I just use my HP Simple Save external hard drive. I haven't had to use it, so I am hoping that it is sufficient, should I need it.
