American Diabetic doesnt want to come back to the US

This is an indictment of the mess that U.S. healthcare is today because of greed. I have a dear, dear friend who is a Type 1 diabetic. Who discovered her condition? The National Health Service, when she was an exchange student in Scotland. She probably wishes that she never came home. Over here, diabetics are charged a fortune for insulin and test strips. There is nothing quite like greed.It's just soooo "pro-life."
 
She is disingenuous. The UK imports over 99% of its insulin which means that their healthcare system is putting virtually no money into research, development and manufacturing of the medicines she needs for which there is a growing demand both there and globally. She holds up her little sign attacking the US company while saying zilch about the companies in Denmark, France or Germany which are in the same game. She and Bernie also don't point out that the UK is starting to stockpile insulin and other drug stores for fear a no-deal Brexit could leave them without critical medicines like insulin because, as stated, their healthcare system puts virtually no money into research, development and manufacturing of the medicines it needs. No I don't blame her for doing what is best for her individually. I do, however, blame her for trying to paint this issue with a victimhood brush when she sits in a free-rider country while criticizing the US which is investing billions in research, development and manufacturing of the medicines she needs.

So why can't we "take care of our own"? We haven't been able to come up with a national healthcare plan, even though we have had decades to do it, and even though we give lots of unnecessary tax breaks and spend money on lots of ridiculous stuff, from "the wall" to boondoggles brought to us in the name of "defense" by the military/industrial complex, to "abstinence education," to the asinine and destabilizing invasion of Iraq.

We don't need a national healthcare plan. We need a medical safety net that is better than the one we have. You can cry about the military and walls, but the democrats designed a plan that left 5 million working poor people without a subsidy or medicaid eligibility while providing free shit to women in households making significantly more than the median household income and millions more on bronze plans which were as good as no insurance for low income families and that was the system THEY designed all on their own with no GOP support.

If you want to take a closer link as to why you are being ripped off why not look at the profit margins that your hospitals add on to the drugs. US Doctors prescribe for profit, that is why you have an opioid epidemic. Doctors in the rest of the world prescribe drugs to make you well. No profit involved.

i dont pay anything for my strips and a 30 dollar co-pay for 3 months of insulin....and yes i have ins.....

The U.S. is paying for the countries that cannot afford the medication. But Big Pharma wants these countries to be dependent on their meds, and to prevent them from using alternative ways of dealing with their illnesses. And so they have the U.S. citizens to be other countries' co-payers, so that they will drop alternative meds practices, and become dependent on their products. But once the practicing of alternative healing has been forgotten all around the world. Then that is when Big Pharma will raise the prices on other countries' meds. And so that is why they are keeping meds prices low everywhere else, except here in the U.S.
