Zone1 Why was Jesus sent?

Why are you ignoring what Christ said? Maybe read up on the early church fathers and what they did. There was an early church and its lineage is unbroken.
History suggests that Peter was martyred in Rome around 67 A.D. Why would the Romans kill their first pope?

The Bible story as a whole doesn't support the legitimacy of the Papacy or the RCC. It suggests that the true church was persecuted by the Roman church up until the Reformation. See Revelation 12.

I think I’ll trust what Jesus said.

and what do you think they said ... theirs is the repudiation of judaism false commandments heredity idolatry apartheid religion heavenly personifications that never occurred ...

all relating to - sin no more, to triumph over evil that's not necessarily a church rather the path to the everlasting ...

your suggestion never spoken by jesus their dying for humanity would require a bible explanation for a church that only occurs in the 4th century, no time before their madeup religion were made into a book.

- not including a single word written by jesus for a church.

Peter’s Confession About Jesus.*
13h When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi* he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
14i They replied, “Some say John the Baptist,* others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16* j Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood* has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
18k And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,* and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
19l I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.* Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
20* m Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Messiah.

So Jesus was wrong?
Jesus gave authority to Peter, this is true. But there is no suggestion of a future lineage of Popes (papa's). The brutal excesses of the RCC over the centuries doesn't exactly support them as the one true church.

The lineage is unbroken or Christ lied.

- not exactly screaming from the mountain top ...

maybe they were just trying to give peter a reason not to burn anymore innocent people. the messiah an obvious ruse.

Mr. Nutz-----CONSTANTINE "was SENT" later. His Nicean Council declared
martyred Peter the successor of Jesus----(SIC) "Peter you is da rock" read
the books

Peter wasn't sent to the Romans but to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel", either Christ lied or Peter disobeyed.

Matthew 10: KJV
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

didn't Peter go to ROME? I may be wrong----I thought he was arrested
and crucified in Rome (probably worse than being eaten by a lion)

Constantine 'dug' Peter up and made him the first pope to give legitimacy to the new "Christian" religion in the Roman Empire.

Tradition has it that he was crucified upside down, at his request.

That’s exactly what a religious nutjob would say about a rival religion.

the heavenly spoken religion of antiquity speaks for itself, the triumph of good vs evil ... there is no rivalry with the wicked.
