I would leave out the word 'rules', but essentially, yes. They are guidelines for living a life of blessings.

1. When coming up with priorities in your life, have God be your first priority.
2. Remember God is holy, and what you ask of him should also be holy.
3. Spend at least one day a week with God.
4. Honor your parents.

etc.

The problem some have with Commandments is instead of meditating/contemplating them, people search for the "But...what if..." Ignore that and return to, Do what is holy.

I was commenting on your implied belief that Christianity was not a revealed religion (i.e. God seeking man). That Christianity was some how a fake or an imposter religion. Jesus Christ dispels that notion.

The afterlife can reach out to you. But you have to be able to see it.
