Because the OP and others on the right who agree with him are tedious partisan hacks who practice a double standard. They also know Christie is their only chance for 2016, consequently they’ll attempt to downplay the scandal in the hope of salvaging his presidential aspirations.

Many weak democrats and moderates have been seriously considering voting for Christie for president – now they're reconsidering that support due to the scandal.

I think even if Christie isn't your Governor, it's an important story because it reveals things about him as a candidate for President that helps inform us about whether we would want to vote for him or not.

So the scandal takes on a greater context because of 2016. No one can say yet if this will damage him beyond all repair and that's exciting; we really don't know if he'll be able to get through this and we'll certainly reward him if, like Bill Clinton, he has that special tenacity to keep on keepin' on even when things seem like they're on the brink of collapse.

You can factor in the failure of the administration to fire those responsible for the illegal evesdropping by IRS and the Fast/Furious scandal. 9/11 was planned on his watch. His FBI totally ignored FBI Agent Joh O'Neil who knew something was up. They thought he was crazy.

He had several opportunities to take out UBL, he and he didn't.

He had UBL handed to him on a slver platter by the Sudanese and he didn't take him.

You can bet your ass Clinton is on his knees every night thanking GOD that they waited till he was out of office to pull of 9/11.
