Since when does congress need to authorize an audit?
The IGs do audits all the time and never catch anything.
Inspector General ReportsOffice of the Inspector General
The Office of the Inspector General is directly responsible for meeting the statutory mission of promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of Social Security Administration programs and operations and to prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in...oig.ssa.gov
Trump hired DOGE like Reagan hired the Grace Commission in 1984.
DOGE is hired under the President's Article 2 Authority
After DOGE files recommendations Congress can act on them, or not.
Ya'll are the ones that say the audit needs to be done.
Problem is, not only my the audit be done, but the funds need to be authorized to - you know - fix the problems.
Below is the Biden Administration audit report on SS Active Enrollees over 100 years old. (You didn't think that Musk was the first to find this problem right?). The SSA declined to implement some of the fixes because it was to expensive. They didn't have the operations budget. (You know the operations budget and the benefit budget are different right?)
