Zone1 Why is it so tough to believe in God?

You can't test something subjective that's why it's subjective.
Seek and you shall find. I tested that, the Commandments, the Beatitudes, other Biblical teachings, and discovered they were all true--but I had no physical evidence to show anyone, only testimony. Recall science: You conduct the same test/experiment with no variables (or the same variable) for the same result. With the subjective, one is working with changing variables, so exact duplicate tests are not an option.

Subjective is when physical evidence and an exact duplicate test are not possible.

Is it because:
  • Lack of belief we are lovable
  • Lack of belief we are cared for
  • Lack of belief God is an active agent in our lives
  • Lack of belief we have a reason for being
What blocks people from believing in God? Why is it so hard to believe?

People of science require more proof than just a 2000 year old book that claims "soon" means more than 2000 years from now and that stars are the same size as figs.

Indeed, the demographic that wrote the New Testament doesn't believe it, not at all...

how he organized to retrieve and burn hundreds of New Testaments given to Ethiopian Jews in his city by local messianic Jews. By 9 a.m. he was on an Army Radio news-talk show defending his actions, which he called "purging the evil among us."

You answer that, why do Jews in Israel consider burning New Testament to be "purging evil?"

YOU personally after the secular society your lucky enough to belong decided that woman and men are equal.
Have you done any genealogy? I have, going back generations, paying particular attention to what the women in my family tree were doing. Things like, crossing the ocean on their own, several times. Exploring/traveling through the wilderness, also on their own. They were also executors of estates, almost all ran their own small business to help the family income. The females in my family tree were not mewling victims oppressed by the males in their lives or society. Would the women in your life today put up with a mere male ordering them around? One of my male ancestors wrote a poem about feminine reaction when this is tried. Females couldn't vote? Neither could males who did not own property. No one whines about that "oppression". Society changes because time change.

I'm "lucky" to belong to the secular society? That is funny. I find that I've been working just as hard and doing much of the same as my female ancestors before me. In fact, I think they might argue that I live in the more oppressive society--and would probably win.

Again everytime you pretend I'm moving the goalposts
Shrug. Go back and take note of of the changes and shifts you made in the discussion point.

First, let's concede that it is unlikely that all Jews in Israel consider burning the New Testament to be "purging evil". Another point to consider: When someone burns an American flag, have they purged any evil? Or is it considered "free speech"?

Why would some Jews want to burn the New Testament? First, they consider Jesus, who was a man, an idol. They hold no belief that Jesus had two natures, that of God and man. Second, although Jesus had many Jewish followers who took time to listen and talk with him, he was put to death by he higher up Temple bureaucrats and Romans who always became nervous when someone other than themselves attracted a large following. But who was blamed for Jesus' death? All Jews, and down through the ages they were persecuted because of this. (Isn't interesting that Romans were even more culpable in Jesus' death, but blame was not placed on all Romans and Italians.) Christians, down through the centuries brought terror, evil acts, and persecution of Jews into Jewish neighborhoods, villages, and towns.

Today some Christians still frown upon them, even harass them, for not accepting Jesus as Lord and savior.

Keep in mind that most Jews--especially those who are left alone with their own beliefs/business--don't give Jesus or the New Testament a second thought. They are focused on the Torah and what they learn of/from God from their own holy books and scrolls.

How do you worship a God that discards 2/3 of the earths population…….Just because of what they believe?
Everyone gets what they truly want, eternity with God or without God. That's the bottom line, either you live in relationship with Him or you live in rebellion against Him.

The elected Deputy Mayor in Israel got on the radio and said precisely that.

DODGE, typical cowardly dodge...

First, they consider Jesus, who was a man, an idol.

That's complete BS as expected. The Jewish people were there, they observed Jesus. Their opinion of Jesus from coast to coast is as follows...

The guy was a complete slimebag scam artist.
He set up John the Baptist for the chance to dupe/bilk his supporters
He had one guy acting the "blind man" bullshit over and over
Give up everything = give it to Jesus because Jesus had a very expensive brothel/wine habit
Loaves and Fishes was the end of Jesus, the "Last Supper" is all BS to cover for it
As Jesus forced his duped followers to stay with no food, as one wicker basket of fish doesn't feed 5000 people - DUH, Judas took off and ratted him out, saying he was a fraud but Judas was not going to participate in forced mass starvation
Jews say this - "Judas was the least awful of them" "Jesus was very much like David Koresh"
So the Jewish troops show up, liberate the starving mass of human duped moronic "followers," arrest Jesus
What do the "disciples" do? Do they stand shoulder to shoulder with "Son of God?" NO, they all BOLT like a scene from COPS
The disciples lie about whether they were disciples
NOBODY "healed" shows up at the trial
They put Jesus in water and he spent a full day in the water because he was UNABLE TO WALK ON IT
They brought in a leper and Jesus didn't heal the leper
The crowd cheering the crucifixion were THE ORIGINAL CHRISTIANS, DUPED OF EVERYTHING, STARVING AND EMACIATED, SURVIVING ONLY BECAUSE JUDAS STOPPED THE SLAUGHTER

Everyone gets what they truly want, eternity with God or without God. That's the bottom line, either you live in relationship with Him or you live in rebellion against Him.
If you ask them

YOU are the one going to hell

If you ask them

YOU are the one going to hell
They are not my judge, and I am not their judge.

That's the difference.

I can say with complete confidence that, without Jesus' sacrifice no one is good enough, but with His sacrifice, we are made righteous, not through our own works, but through His.

People of science are not going to get their more proof. Faith is the key. Faith in God, Christ, and the Bible as the Word of God. So just carry on with your science and leave the supernatural alone.

The Jews that wrote the New Testament believed it. The many Jews who followed Christ believed. But the nation as a whole rejected Christ. Rejected their Messiah.

Just as they rejected the Old Testament prophets before. Josephs brothers rejected him and sold him into slavery. They rejected Moses and Aaron. They rejected and killed the prophets that God sent them. The rejected John the Baptist the last of the Old Testament prophets. Jesus physical brothers rejected Him at the beginning. And so it is not surprising that the Jews reject Jesus Christ their Messiah.

And at that, God has rejected them. They are locked as a nation in unbelief until God is ready to deal with them again.

So, why is it so surprising if they reject and burn the New Testament? It just proves that they are the sons of their fathers.

It is not tough to believe in God

You just need to set aside logic and reason and believe what you are told.

If God existed at the Creation, then it wasn't from nothing. It was from God Himself breaking up into matter and energy.
Herein lies the problem. The story in Genesis about the creation of heaven and earth is not and never was about the "creation" of the universe, the solar system, the earth, or the first plants, animals, and human beings.

Its is about a time around 3500 years ago when the earth, for billions of years, was without shape or form, (lawless) and void (exceedingly pointless) and darkness (ignorance) covered the face of the deep (the unknown) and then "The Spirit of God" hovered over the waters and light was spoken into existence in the form of the Law which was given "as a light to the nations" dividing day from night by teaching people to differentiate between clean and unclean, right and wrong, true and false, good and evil, a blessing and a curse, life and death.

People who try to prove that God created the universe by citing Genesis don't know what they are talking about.

They are two completely different subjects.

We condemn ourselves.
First, if that is true then what salvation do you think that you have hold of? Second, How many of you are there?

If you are a sinner then you should just strive to become a better person whether God exists or not. Its not hard.

DON"T BE AN ASSHOLE.

Otherwise you will only condemn yourself. Whether God exists or not.

None of these numbskulls are "going to hell". THEY ARE ALREADY IN IT. They have their reward already!

They died in the very same day, decades ago, the first time they started blubbering on their knees about being a sinning piece of shit, begged forgiveness for being human, and accepted the Antichrist as their God and savior.

A false substitute counterfeit Jesus conjured from the depths of a Roman hell created in the image and likeness of Mithras and unleashed on the world in in 325ce, a virgin diddling ascetic mangod whose supernatural miracles of the lie (that scripture is to be taken literally) does not correspond to any real living being ever in existence.

Worship is the true result of the true acknowledgement of Who God and Christ are. Once in the presence of God and Christ, the knee and head will bow.
worship is the fears and illiteracy during past times allowing for a monarchical control over peoples lives the furthest possibility for life in the everlasting ... the spirit is on its own trajectory controlled by no one.

there is never a time or reason to worship anything much less the false 4th century christian bible that does not reflect the true 1st century events being the exact opposite of false monarchicalism.

monotheism is all in the heavens are the same in spirit some stronger than others - no such behavior as worship occurs there.

there will never be or has been a messiah for the same reasons as the true meaning for the heavens, everlasting and the creation of life.

Yes, many do believe falsehoods. I can only tell you what I am convinced of and why I am convinced of it. It's not just a belief system, it's a relationship. What other faith literally has God living within you, speaking to you regularly?
Who is correct?
Millions of Christians throughout history and I are.
What if God says you chose wrong?
Then He will tell me I chose wrong and show me where I went wrong. He does that now. I had to throw off an awful lot of man-made dogma to get to the bedrock truth of Christianity, and it has nothing to do with rote memorization, recitation of mantras or prayers, checklists of deeds done and avoided, none of that. It is the simplest yet most profound thing you can do.
