This woman at my work said "believing in evolution takes just as much faith as believing in God"

Can you help me explain to her why that's not true? Evolution is a theory first of all, based on evidence. God is not a scientific theory. That's one.

It seems like religious people who believe science and religion can co exist are cherry pickers. They believe man evolves but they can't go backwards and realize that there is no first man. We came from monkeys. And they came from smaller rodent like creatures. And before them they came from animals that once lived under water.

They can't agree with this. So then they are NOT fans of science. Because their explanation is that God POOFED humans and chickens and every other land creature onto the earth. That's not scientific at all.

A religious person can believe in science but at best they will cherry pick.

Is she a college graduate? ... if not, maybe she does have to take evolution on faith ... she's not smart enough to understand ...

The reconciliation comes from understanding religion is of spirit, evolution is of flesh ... Christianity is simply "love your brother as you love yourself" ... we don't need a PhD in Biophysics to understand that ...

Do you really want to know? At some point, they were the same creature. One stayed small while the other one grew. Sort of like how a Wolf was transformed into both a Chiwawa and Great Dane.

How did we make Wolves into Chiwawa? How did we make Great Danes? There's your answer. Only evolution happened over millions of years. We did that to wolves in just thousands of years.

Your next question is how did some of us turn into insects while others turned into reptiles and some turned into mammals.

No mammals have gills. The structures that were once used for gills in our ancestors have been modified to be part of our ears, and jaws. All mammals breathe air, and must come to the surface for air. The ancestors of mammals lost their gills around 400 million years ago, when they were Amphibians.

Farmers know to save the seed from their best plants ... for planting next year's crop ... after centuries and millennia, these strains because varieties and then sub-species then full on speciation ... for some crops, not all ...

It's all about the molecules inside the cell ... we all evolved from blue-green algae ... why the tender ego for something removed from humanity ... ToE makes for horrific social policy ... "spay and neuter, it's the right thing to do" ...

But to say corn can't be changed to make it better is just flat wrong ...
