Why don't you want to tax the rich?

What would that accomplish? If the those making that much or even the so called 1% were taxed more does anyone honestly believe the government would take that money and do anything wise or fiscally responsible with it? Before the government gets more of anyone's money, they have to show the taxpayers they are not going to just piss it away like they have for decades.

Taxing them at a higher percent is already wrong. There should be no graduated income tax. The only fair way to do it is a flat tax.
Constitution says Congress decides how taxes are levied

You tax where the money is

This is in the federal tax code.

If you make less than +/- 130,000 a year, you pay SS taxes on every penny you make. If you make +/-130,001 a year... you pay $0.00 taxes on money made above that amount. The very wealthy actually take home more money later in the year than they do in the beginning.

Your SS payback is capped based on what you put in. Hope that helps you.

Bezos can choose any place in the world that he wants to live, so your assertion is a non starter. There are also 12 other billionaires in WA--watch how fast they leave when the state taxes them more unfairly than they already do. WA like every other lib state will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Yet as you state some do still live there and here is why.

Washington State is ranked 45 overall in taxes compared to other states

That is why he live there (low tax rate)

Washington forgoes an individual income tax on wage income due to constitutional constraints, though the state recently imposed a tax on high earners’ capital gains income, a policy that raised constitutional questions but ultimately secured the assent of the state supreme court. It became a graduated rate tax in 2025, with a top rate of 9.9 percent for gains above $1 million. The constitution has been similarly interpreted as blocking a corporate income tax, but Washington instead imposes a high multiple-rate gross receipts tax, called the Business & Occupation Tax.

They want to keep those rich people from leaving and it seems to work to an extend.

That is like saying we spent $30 trillion on the military and still no improvement
? That money has made us the most technologically advanced and well trained military on the planet

Don’t tax the rich……just cut waste fraud and abuse has been a RW fantasy for generations

Go ahead Tax them. Top three brackets at 40,50,60 %.

Revenue will settle at ~20%*GDP.
Money moves. Things will adjust.

Make Capital Gains tax 50% ( from 12%) see what happens.

Your boys didn't do it. But you know better? They talk a lot until they get into power then, silence.

tahuyaman I think they should be taxed fairly like the rest of us. There is a lot of anger in this country and people have a revulsion of the rich.

Because taxing them at even 100% would be chump change to our national debt. They for the most part didn't create the debt, the government did over several decades. They are the ones who need to be punished.

You needn't punish honest prosperity.

So you want to "punish" the government?

Any thoughts on how you do that?

Name a loop hole on earned income. I'll wait.
The tax money paid is higher for higher incomes.

What would lower it is legal tax breaks

The average joe has tax break but does not have that higher income.

Higher income has tax breaks. It just they have more money in play.

Higer income does pay more in taxes but they can hire a tax preparer to find those loop holes.

The rest of us just do our own taxes or go to H&R Block of some other tax preparer.

Cotus also says that people can’t be treated unfairly under the law.

Bezos DOESN'T live there anymore. WA taxes ARE NOT LOW. They tax nicotine products 95%. They tax alcohol more than most states. They have a carbon tax. They have the highest fuel taxes in the nation. They also have a large budget deficit this year in spite of having a balanced budget requirement. WA has also massively reassessed properties the last two years, adding to high taxes. WA also excessively uses excise taxes. Low tax rate? You've been mislead. WA state gov't is worse than CA. Do you live there?

Here is a graphic that shows what I'm talking about. I said +/- 130K earlier. Its actually $168 and some change.

Taxpayer C should be paying 6.2%--aka taxes on every dollar earned just like A and B do. Give them more on the back end because it's their money but deduct it first.
