I mean, libs aren't happy unless there's something to protest and set their hair on fire about. In short, they relish the misery pit they create for themselves. Is it really a stretch to imagine some liberal saying, "I am tired of starvation wages being paid by Nestle so I am going to cover myself in chocolate and hang nude from the Eiffel Tower." They protest because it's, at least in theory, a peaceful way to encourage changes they'd like to see. I wouldn't call myself purely liberal or conservative, but I know very well that it's possible to be personally very happy but believe society is way off track.

You know that's not a half bad answer. However, change can simply be made by voting, working harder, giving more to charity, volunteering to teach kids to read and so forth. Protesting usually is an activity by people who are so upset they are going to make a big stink about something. That in my book is par for the course of the chronically offended or the celebratory malcontent...

Actually, conservatives are about as close to actual classic liberals as you can get in this country. The people we currently -unlike every other country in the world where, apparently, truth in political advertising is taken much more seriously than it is here - call liberals are in fact statist left, which is to say fascist or socialist, not that there is very much difference between the two mind you.

Yeah we get confusion because people can't seem to agree on what a conservative is. People who are libertarians need to stop calling themselves conservative.

I say this because it's really odd to call people who want more state control over social policy anything but social conservatives. We can call them Republicans, but many of them care more about conservative fiscal policy. We have this annoying 2-party system and most people don't fit neatly into either party. Will a populist/statist side with democrats or republicans? Democrats if they care more about fiscal issues, republicans if they care more about social issues.
