They will also lie if it would disclose security measures they are taking to protect the President. They do not want to make everything they are doing public.

I am sure there are classified briefings that have been held about this matter.

The logical explanation is that they are doing enhanced security for Trump after the assassination attempts, and are monitoring for threats. He frequents that golf course.
