Zone1 why do some Protestants think that only they are Christians and the Catholics are not?

The history of the first Christians worshipping Jesus as God as recorded by non-Christian historians is not hearsay.
Yes it is. You have no way of questioning the original eyewitness to ask whether they were being figurative or literal. You are depending on what non-christians wrote about what they heard that others believed. So it is left up to the reader to be rational or irrational. The choice that you have made is painfully obvious, except to you.

I’m depending on what history recorded. In that regard, history recorded the first Christians worshipping Jesus as God. The non-Christian historians which recorded this were not commenting on the validity of their beliefs. They were just reporting what they did.

And back then there were contemporary non christians who dismissed those reports as the ravings of a lunatic mind. That is also history and evidence as valid as yours that what you profess to believe is not the literal truth.

What then? The intelligent reader would have to use use well known facts about reality, literature, science, and biology as constraints to determine what interpretation is either possible or impossible to be the literal truth.

So you believe the first Christians didn’t worship Jesus as God? That that only happened later?

Is that correct?

The first Christians were Jewish and would have stoned Jesus themselves if they thought he claimed to be God so yeah.

And you must have left out of your speculations the words of Jesus himself as recorded in the Gospel of John..

"Go and tell my brothers, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to My God and your God." John 20:17

By saying "My Father and your Father; My God and your God" Jesus effectively eliminated any possibility that Jesus either thought of himself as or claimed to be God. And the disciples would have noticed otherwise.

You didn’t answer my questions.

Try again to read what I wrote. The first sentence was an answer to your question. You have eyes, can't you see?

Go back and try again to read what I wrote, a direct answer to your question. You have eyes, can't you see?
You didn’t but I’ll move on.

When did the first Christians begin worshipping Jesus as God?

Wow. What about adressing the point I made?

Thats not some non-Christian report or an early Christian report. That is supposedly the words of Jesus himself.

Because it has absolutely nothing to do with the timing of when Jesus was worshipped as God. I say it was right after the resurrection of Christ and that it was because of the miracles performed by Christ and his resurrection.

When do you say it began and why do you think it began.

If you take the Law literally the image and likeness of God becomes that of a cruel and capricious puerile carnal minded petty tyrant.
I think that must be you because that’s not me.

that's exactly what you are doing - what is written by zealots is conflated by you into something from the heavens.

And God forbade homosexual sex, along with adultery and fornication. You aren't dealing with that, except to try and explain it away.

rather than the implications made from the forgeries written in all three desert bibles the false commandments madeup by the liar moses and their etched tablets from the heavens that never existed.

Nope. Just stating a fact. Engineers are well paid for their thinking.

in fact they are the liest reliable for completing any project they've been assigned - except those paid to pollute the gulf of mexico to save a dime ... state of texas rrc - railroad commission of texas.

like seeing him put to death and then seeing him resurrected.

and how the romans failed to respond by rearresting the survivor of their torment to resubmit the event over again without an ambiguous outcome. pilate surly would have been curious or have made mention of the subject. not to mention the jews who demanded their crucifixion to not clarify its outcome.

And if that were true would have been recorded by the non-Christian historians which it was not.

Catholics are Gods favorites next to the Jews

That is why the Pope is Gods representative on earth
I too, am God's representative on earth (it's a tough job but someone has to do it).

New International Version
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
