Public schools 56.4 million students 15,000 abuse cases. Christian schools 1.6 million students no data on numbers given but Heidelblog noted 12 cases, interestingly most all were in the South."Uneducated"? Oh, yes, you mean because I don't share your indoctrination.
Meanwhile, in reality:
To support her contention that many more youngsters have been sexually mistreated by school employees than by priests, Ms. Shakeshaft pointed to research conducted for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and released late last month. That study found that from 1950 to 2002, 10,667 people made allegations that priests or deacons had sexually abused them as minors. (“Report Tallies Alleged Sexual Abuse by Priests,” this issue.)
Extrapolating from data collected in a national survey for the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation in 2000, Ms. Shakeshaft estimated that roughly 290,000 students experienced some sort of physical sexual abuse by a public school employee from 1991 to 2000—a single decade, compared with the roughly five-decade period examined in the study of Catholic priests.
Those figures suggest that “the physical sexual abuse of students in schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests,"contended Ms. Shakeshaft, who is a professor of educational administration at Hofstra, in Hempstead, N.Y.
That is no doubt true. Depending on their geographic location and the gods most prevalent in those locations, scientists have come to very different faiths managed by very different gods. Many scientists have come to their faith through their work; they see evidence of an intelligent creator through science.
If the gods had showered the planet with Zippo lighters a thousand years ago, that would have been pretty strong evidence of something supernatural in existence.Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

The angles who vised Abraham were not naked. You can believe anything you wish but that isn't science. As for life from rock, the reality is that you have water, lightning, gas and minerals/rock. THAT's it. Go make life and come back and show me how YOU did it...A rock is not the place to go when looking for the creation of life. Such a statement as yours would be expected from someone not having even a minimal, middle school education.
A true miracle would be believing the planet is flat, that the earth is 6,000 years old and that fat naked babies playing harps are floating in the clouds.... Oh wait --- don't tell me, miracles require belief that ignorance is a virtue.
Moses was used to turn the Nile into blood. No on thought he was a god...If the gods had showered the planet with Zippo lighters a thousand years ago, that would have been pretty strong evidence of something supernatural in existence.
It still does not answer the question of how did everything start? If there was nothing, then how did we get something?Great! So what? That doesn't contradict evolutionary theory. Evolution would just be how the designer operates. Sorry, but you have to modify your magical horseshit to accommodate the facts, not the other way around.
Religion gives an answer. Science tries to describe our surroundings based on theories. Whether the religious answers are right, or the scientific theories are right, is for you to decide.why do some people believe religion instead of science
why do some people believe religion instead of science
Well first, I wrote nothing about any naked angels visiting anyone. You're right, there is nothing in science to support angels, and whatever else haunts your fantasy world. The angles who vised Abraham were not naked. You can believe anything you wish but that isn't science. As for life from rock, the reality is that you have water, lightning, gas and minerals/rock. THAT's it. Go make life and come back and show me how YOU did it...
You poor, dear. My refutations to your screeching, angry tirades were too much for your tender sensibilities.Done with you Nipper. You keep feeding Hollie the Troll, who never contributes anything worthwhile. All she does is screech ignorance and you rise to the bait, encouraging more of the same. Very foolish and it wastes everyone else's time.
ciao
The Nile was never turned into blood. Such tales and fables appeal to a certain portion of a certain religious group but like so much of ancient tales and fables, there's no reason to accept it as true.Moses was used to turn the Nile into blood. No on thought he was a god...
Dunno! Maybe there was no beginning. Maybe there was.It still does not answer the question of how did everything start? If there was nothing, then how did we get something?
You just go ahead and assume the numbers are far worse based on your bigotry.Public schools 56.4 million students 15,000 abuse cases. Christian schools 1.6 million students no data on numbers given but Heidelblog noted 12 cases, interestingly most all were in the South.
I'm speaking of modern scientists coming to a belief in Christianity. That is no doubt true. Depending on their geographic location and the gods most prevalent in those locations, scientists have come to very different faiths managed by very different gods.
Ummm...okay.If the gods had showered the planet with Zippo lighters a thousand years ago, that would have been pretty strong evidence of something supernatural in existence.
A very rare event indeed, surely.I'm speaking of modern scientists coming to a belief in Christianity.
3 choices seem apparent, 1. God did it. ( Religion ) 2. It occurred naturally ( science ) or combine the two and come up with number 3. God created the Big Bang and designed it with natural laws which governed the stars and planets and allowed life to evolve. I go with the third plan, it makes the most sense to me, and if there isn't a goal for life, a big picture, why bother with any of it. So the big question everyone should be asking, instead of arguing, what is the purpose of life ? Or why are we all here ?It still does not answer the question of how did everything start? If there was nothing, then how did we get something?
I believe it's a cycle. We exist now in a phase where the universe is still expanding. Someday in the future the universe will start contracting, as it gets smaller more and more physical entities or be converted into energy. The final product it becomes is an unstable ball of energy. Which doesn't last long before it explodes and starts the whole cycle over again. Mankind is still in its infancy, it cannot even begin to comprehend or understand these immense periods of " TIME ". They are trapped in it, they cannot yet see from outside of time.It still does not answer the question of how did everything start? If there was nothing, then how did we get something?
