I think even with the republican election manipulation thru partisan gerrymandering, a lot of registered independents who normally vote conservative are very displeased with Trump right now. The gerrymandering by republicans would have to include those displeased conservative independents in to their new republican drawn districts....and those displeased independents may choose to vote those republicans out of office, or they may stay home... Giving democrats a better shot at winning some of those republican gerrymandered districts.
