In a Republic, actually
‘Trump has projected unwavering confidence that he is winning the messaging war over the government shutdown. But behind the scenes, his team is increasingly concerned that the issue at the center of the debate will create political vulnerabilities for Republicans.

Advisers are worried that the GOP will take the blame for allowing healthcare subsidies to expire, raising costs for millions of Americans ahead of next year’s midterm elections, according to administration officials.

Inside the White House, aides are discussing proposals to extend the enhanced subsidies for Affordable Care Act health-insurance plans, the officials said. Trump hasn’t yet decided whether he will endorse such a proposal, according to the officials. Republicans say they will only hold negotiations with Democrats on the matter after the government is reopened.

The closed-door hand-wringing stands in contrast to the public bravado conveyed by the president and his top advisers. Trump has posted artificial-intelligence videos of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) wearing a sombrero. And he has said the shutdown gives his administration an “unprecedented opportunity” to make far-reaching cuts and target programs favored by Democrats. The administration is preparing to oust thousands of federal workers.’

Extending the subsidies for the ACA shouldn’t even be an issue, ending the subsidies should not have been in the reckless, irresponsible legislation passed by Republicans – that legislation and the current shutdown is typical of the right’s insanity and contempt for sound, responsible governance.

Republicans have only themselves to blame, being responsible for increasing healthcare costs for millions of Americans.

As for Trump posting AI videos, further proof Trump is a racist, bigot, and unfit to hold any public office.

Trump and Republicans are united in requiring a "clean CR" first.

Then negotiate appropriations bills, including healthcare, but not for aliens.

For the time being.

Taco will cave.

There are countless AI-generated depictions of Trump. Jeffries and the rest of the ***** democrats need to grow some thick skin.

Racist and Bigot have been so overused. Fatigue has set in.

Why would he? Democrats just green-lighted Project-2025.

There is no way any Republicans would approve adding $1.5T back to the budget after cutting $1.5T off Biden's last budget.

Elections have consequences.

Jeffrey Epstein has consequences.

"Overused" by Trump, his stooges, right wing trash media, and bigots on X.

"Jeffries and the rest of the ***** democrats need to grow some thick skin."

Their skins are much thicker than your Snowflake emperor's.

They were not upset that they were attacked by Trump. They could care less.

No, they are simply pointing out Trump's flagrant race baiting.

Millions of people’s health insurance premiums will double.
They have increased massively since Obamacare started and was high before that. Medical rationing will come here out of necessity.

Elections have consequences.
Well said. And the elections didnt give the GOP a 60 spot majority in the senate so Trump will have to deal with the consequences. Those are to work with the democrats or enjoy the shutdown.

Bullshit…. If Jeffries and the Democrats had thick skin instead of excess foreskin they wouldn’t be dropping the Racist and Bigot cards every time their feelings get hurt or they can’t defend themselves.

Yep, this is what happens when Biden’s and Dems set an expiration date of 12/31/25 for bailing out big insurance.

Donald Trump is underwater in every single metric and Americans, by a wide majority (+20 points), blame Donald Trump for the shutdown having seen him show up to meetings like a moron and post moronic childish edited videos of Democratic leaders. They know he is unserious. They see his threats to fire Americans as un-American. He is losing this argument and the democrats know it. They are settled in for a long wait. He's burning everything down so there is nothing to lose.

he is not as far underwater as you and your demafacist party, who have hit record lows.

That's really all that matters. He will continue to win, when you don't have alternative that the American people want. You might get butt hurt because he post videos and memes, which ironically, dembot do too, but you know what? The American people would rather see that, then accept your violent death cult.

The subsidies were put in place for...wait for it...the COVID crisis. The question everyone should be asking is this:

Is the COVID crisis still going on?

If it is, the subsidies have a reason to exist. If it is not, they do not. Basically, from where comes this idea that once a TEMPORARY spend is put in place it has to become PERMANENT?

Oh, and the AI videos are hilarious.
