We'll know by end of the week.

If you got something cheaper and better like trump promised, then show it.

I don't have it, but that doesnt address the fact that ACA has failed if we need to keep adding more and more subsidies to make it work. Healthcare isnt more affordable, the government is just willing to pay more and more for it.

So come up with a better plan.

So come up with a better plan.

im not congress..but ill take a stab at it.

How about we take government money out of Healthcare. Subsidies lead to higher costs overall. Allow people to buy Healthcare across state lines, increase competition, make them earn your dollar by competing against each other.

Cut unnecessary regulation to help reduce costs on Healthcare providers, spur innovation, and increase efficiency, where possible and safe. Maybe look at Canada as a partner for prescription drugs. Big pharma makes a ton of money off of their drugs having patents and cause the prices for everyone else to be high. Competition could drive down costs, but this might be a slippery slope. I wouldnt want companies to stop innovation of drugs. Kinda unsure here.

The biggest way to reduce costs is educating people about healthy lifestyle choices. Not being the fattest country on the planet might help our Healthcare costs to come down by not having so many people with chronic diseases. Our country is rife with people living off of processed foods, fast food. Rather than staying home and cooking a healthy meal, the prefer to eat out every night, often things that are just antithetical to good health.

This country needs a major culture shift, and everyone to become more cognizant of the choices they are making. However, a lot of these things are because of how our country operates. Its cheaper to eat at McDonald's than it is to find a healthy meal at a restaurant, by far. People gravitate to this because its a much cheaper option, but people work long hours to make money only to have that money soaked up by high taxes and high prices. Prices are high because of over regulation, high taxes and high labor costs. Companies have margins they have to meet so all the extra costa the government imposes on them will be passed on to the consumer.

Maybe if we reduced the burden government puts on businesses, cutting over regulation, cutting taxes on businesses, reduce inflation to allow business to more easily see profits, it might lower costs, which will put more money into the pockets of people, so they dont have to work so hard and long hours, so they can afford to make healthier food choices by cooking good meals at home, and that will result in all these health issues being resolved and thus, maybe reduce costs people pay for heathcare.

I dont know if any of that would work, again, I dont make our laws...thats for people much smarter than I.

A better plan would be the one to allow people to make better choices so they wouldn't need to spend as much on healthcare..

The GOP already voted to fund our government. Democrats voted to shut it down,13 times.

False, the GOP plan failed in the Senate 13 times, and will fail again.

The GOP didn't offer a 'plan' They offered a CONTINUING RESOLUTION that was crafted and previously passed by the democrats to keep the gov't open and facilitate negotiations of a budget. Schumer and Jefferies were butt hurt because they didn't get a soap box to get their 5 minutes of fame from so they threw a temper tantrum and decided to hold the country hostage. The Schumer Shutdown will create hardship for their constituency when SNAP/WIC/Welfare run out and moreso when the ACA evaporates. They hope it will create typical democrat riots and unrest---exactly the same tactic they used with the BLM/Antifa riots in 2020. Transparent.

You honestly think Dems will ever regret lying about the true costs of Obamacare?

All they will do is blame Republicans and President Trump for everything. They are incapable of taking responsibility for anything.
AS long as we always blame one person or one political party the insanity will continue.
AT some point we need to place the blame where it belongs.
ON ALL our politicians, All taking money contributions in exchange for doing there bidding.

The original ACA was awesome but republicans blocked it making the subsidies necessary. Perhaps you have a plan for healthcare. Didn't trump say he could easily do it better and cheaper? What happened?
Don't know if it was awesome or not, But by the time they finished fighting & changing things, It was different.

There is no "plan" Qdog. It's just a clean CR to fund the government. Your socialist klan wants to turn it into a wish list for illegal aliens and other assorted slackers and freaks. Stop starving the babies and fund the government, loser.

Lots of talk about premium increases if republicans refuse to extend subsidies. Many seem to think the increases won't be much of a problem, and the subsidies are just there to fund healthcare for illegals anyway. November 1 is the start of signup time, and each individual will see their personal cost of not extending the subsidies. I suspect one side or the other will regret the stance they have taken on the subject..
You can't add new spending in a CR, stupid.

A CR is simply an appropriation of funds for programs that have already been negotiated, voted on, passed, and signed into law.

This is not a place to try to start new spending or programs. In fact, new spending is PROHIBITED in a CR.

Summary

The program activities of most federal agencies are generally funded on an annual basis through the enactment of regular appropriations acts. When those annual appropriations acts are not enacted by the beginning of the fiscal year (October 1), one or more continuing appropriations acts (commonly known as continuing resolutions or CRs) may be enacted to provide temporary funding to continue certain programs and activities until action on the regular appropriations acts is completed.

There are six main features of CRs.

First, CRs have provided funding for certain activities (coverage), which are typically specified with reference to the prior fiscal year's appropriations acts.

Second, CRs provide budget authority for a specified duration of time. This duration may be as short as a single day or as long as the remainder of the fiscal year.

Third, in recent practice, CRs have typically provided funds based on an overall funding rate rather than in specified amounts.

Fourth, the use of budget authority provided in the CR has been prohibited for new activities not funded in the previous fiscal year.

Fifth, the duration and amount of funds in the CR, and purposes for which they may be used for specified activities, may be adjusted through anomalies.

Sixth, legislative provisions—which create, amend, or extend other laws—have been included in some instances.

And the right is going to blame Schumer for just not voting on the CR.

no doubt - but it's not looking like the (D)s are getting the blame this time around - especially how it's come out that $6 billion is already earmarked to be used specifically for this emergency, & donny et al are all outright lying about it.
