Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will pay for it, but don’t worry we cant hear their complaints from the grave.
Nope. Medicare will be bankrupt in 2026, so IMHO Medicare is toast.
SS will be able to pay 70% of the promised amounts after 2030, which is an entitlement cut that both parties can dodge responsibility for.

It won’t really go bankrupt. Our political elites will find a way to kick the can down the road.
The Trustees are saying Medicare will go bankrupt in 2026 at the latest. So will the 2020 race or the 2024 race address it?
The democrats need to push the issue and see how Trump plans to save Medicare.

Step one of course is to increase employee payroll contribution. While medical costs kept increasing and increasing, Medicare deductions have stayed the same. If the bill on your credit card is 100 bucks a month, and you pay 100 bucks a month, that's fine. When your bill starts to increase to 125, 150 175, and you're still paying 100 bucks a month, of course it's not going to wash. Eventually you're going to end up in real trouble.

After the economy gets roaring again, we need to calculate how much this virus cost us. That bill should be deducted from what we owe China.

LOL! On CNBC this morning a CEO (3M) was saying that China is NOT letting ANY US Dollars out of China.
That sword cuts both ways.

You mean the same CEO that is in battle with our President?

The COVID-19 pandemic borrowing will make SS & Medicare less solvent.
Which party will raise taxes to save SS & Medicare for future generations?

  • Medicare’s Annual Cash Shortfall in 2019 was $396 billion;
  • Payroll taxes would have to increase more than 15 percent to pay for Medicare Part A in 2019; and
  • Over the next 75 years, Social Security will owe $16.8 trillion more than it is projected to take in.
Neither one, dumass. Political parties don't pay taxes.
WTF are you hallucinating about? Who writes the tax laws?
Who wrote the last tax cuts that aren't working no matter what Manuchin says?
So what you really meant to say is that Dims will raise all our taxes.

We already knew that, dumbass.
What is your GOP alternative? To keep borrowing and borrowing? We are headed for a fiscal cliff and you are cheering?!
How dumb is that?
My alternative is to stop spending, moron.

Retard, what would you cut? Most of the Budget are entitlements, cut those and you get lynched, and Defense.
So tell me that you and the GOP would cut Defense.
So tell me what specifically you would cut. Here is a Budget, get your red pen out:

2019 Federal Budget
Mandatory spending $2.74T
Social Security $878b
Medicare $625b
Medicaid $412b
Welfare $462b
Interest on the Debt $363b

Discretionary $1.3T
Defense $893.0b
HHS $70.0b
Education $59.9b
VA $83.1b
Homeland $52.7b
Energy Dept $29.2b
NNSA $15.1b
HUD $29.2b
State Dept $40.3b
NASA $19.0b
Foreign Aid $55.0b
All Other Agencies $78.1

I can see two I would cut immediately. That is HUD and foreign aid. HUD is putting lowlifes into nice suburbs which of course, they ruin. How is it some working people can't make it to the burbs but people who don't earn much money can via the government with the use of our tax dollars?

Sounds to me like 3M was forced into it via the DPA. It doesn't mean he likes the President. From your article:

The company's executives' attitude "changed completely" after Trump invoked the Defense Production Act, one official said.
"It's a new relationship," the official said. "They realized we weren't f---ing around."

Agreed, HUD & Foreign aid could be cut, but that"s only $85b a year, we need to cut $1T to balance the Budget.
A $1.0T cut is welfare $462b, and allow the 30% automatic cut to SS $300b, and $200b from Defense, plus the $85b.
If its all CUTS, good luck running on that Budget. Some new tax income needs to happen.

LOL!! Love that about Trump. He doesn't need their K-Street cash.

Nationalize the pharmaceutical industry.

So what good would that do us?
It would shift an equal share of the enormous sales profits
away from Wall Street back to the American people. (basically)
It would essentially pay for a lot of our healthcare .

That's pretty incorrect. It takes tens to hundreds of millions of dollars to get a new drug on the market. It's all bureaucracy and red tape in our country. So a pharmaceutical company invest the millions and years into the product before they make one dime off of it. If it becomes a popular medication, then the media comes along and reports that it only costs 30 cents to make X pill, but they are selling it for 20 bucks a pill, and leave out all the pertinent information as to why, leaving you with the idea they are out for blood money.

Okay, so what happens when they do the same for another medication, and the FDA refuses to license it? Where is the company supposed to recoup those millions from? The answer is they increase the cost of a drug that's already out on the market.

Now we have this new medication, and in the price, we included the cost to make up our losses. But wait! What about the lawsuits that are bound to come? How do we get the money for that?? Once again, that's included in the price of the mediation. We know when you pass out new drugs to tens of millions of people, somebody is going to have a negative reaction to it and sue.

Bottom line is the price of our medication is because of the government. Bureaucrats that need work to do, trail lawyers that donate big bucks to the Democrat party at election time, and enough red tape to wrap around the entire country. As Einstein once said, only a fool would believe that the entity which created a problem would also have a solution to it.

What they will do is raise taxes on the wealthy, and perhaps tobacco users; two groups that cannot protect themselves via vote.
The wealthy have gotten themselves many tax cuts. They can buy politicians.

Given the fact they pay most of the federal income tax for the rest of us, who would you suggest get a tax break?

Your proposed cuts added together are about $400b. So you're about $600b short of a Balanced Budget.
Someone needs to pay the fucking bills. Who should that be?
A VAT is paid by everyone, as an example.

I'm sure you have more than other people too. Does that mean government should have the right take it from you to give to somebody else? If you have eight beautiful hedges in front of your home, would it not be proper for government to take four of your hedges, and give them to the person down the street that has none? Or perhaps you have four video game systems in your household. Would it not be only fair for government to take two of those systems, and give them to somebody that has none?

The wealthy pay most of the bills already. How about we all pay, like with a federal consumption tax until this debt we incurred is paid off completely? Then everybody has a dog in the race.
