Because of this free will, all mankind has fallen short of the kingdom of heaven and is in need of forgiveness of their sins to ever be able to enter God's kingdom. Knowing that he would give mankind free will, God knew from the beginning that a Savior would be needed to give mankind the opportunity to repent and find forgiveness.
