A generic version of god was always in.the government. The Christian version has attempted to creep inany times during our history. I remember fellow students reciting the Protestant version of the Lord's prayer in grade school . The Catholics , Jews and non- believers simply had to put up with it because the church was so strong back then. Now it's attempting that garbage all over again. Look at Texas and Louisiana for example. No doubt it will be strick down. So +called Christians attempting to force their will on all. That's definitely against the law.
