Q:What Republican President was the worst offender of E.O.s if graded by impact and sheer quantity of humans both here and abroad?

A: Reagan.

He GAVE the NSA by unbridled power by executive order. (edited)

It was President Reagan’s infamous Executive Order 12333 (referred to as “twelve-triple-three”) that established and handed to the NSA virtually all of the powers under which the agency operates to this day—allowing the agency to collect the data that so many now find to be so offensive.

McClatchy describes Executive Order 12333 as follows:

“It is a sweeping mandate that outlines the duties and foreign intelligence collection for the nation’s 17 intelligence agencies. It is not governed by Congress, and critics say it has little privacy protection and many loopholes.”

WASHINGTON — With 17 months of his presidency remaining, Ronald Reagan will bank on executive orders and judicial action to implement social policies that he cannot persuade Congress to enact, Gary L. Bauer, the President's chief domestic policy adviser, declared Thursday.

Bauer, the feisty attorney Reagan named to push his social issue agenda, said the President may accomplish some of his goals in such areas as abortion and pornography through a series of executive orders and by his appointment of conservative judges to the federal judiciary, including his nomination of Judge Robert H. Bork to the Supreme Court.

Think you have to go back to Eisenhower and NSA powers to collect data.

My bad. I should have said in 1987 Reagan gave the NSA the unlimited powers by E.O. that it uses to abuse Americans today.

Prior to that time it was not invading the privacy of ordinary, or even extraordinary citizens, and Eisenhower had nothing to do with it. He just made a speech that said shit like this shouldn't be allowed and the military industrial base should be dismantled.

I can understand not reading an attached article, but what do you call someone who doesn't read their own posts?

Isn't it a shame that the Democrats have to go back to President Reagan to try to make excuses for Obama?

Reagan's orders weren't reversed 12 times by the SCotUS on 9-0 votes as Obama has been.

There is the real difference and issue.

A thread like this is obviously started to give cover to the worst abuser of EOs, B. Hussein Obama!

The number of EOs is not as remarkable as is the topics involved. Obama's trampling on the Constitution is unforgiveable and criminal!

Reagan abused them. Bush abused them. Every POTUS has used and abused them.

Obama has taken it to a new level. He is the worlds worst Constitutional professor....
