BUT if anything attributable to PAUL is genuinely PAUL ---then Paul
started it. HOWEVER, I believe that Paul's motivation was the creation
of a form of Judaism that would seem ok in the Hellenistic world where
people could be declared "god" by an act of the Senate----

Paul, a rabid anti Christian who infiltrated the early movement by claiming to be struck with blindness and then pretending to be healed by Jesus had two goals in mind. First to insure that the Jewish people would dismiss Jesus out of hand as pitifully insane and his teaching blasphemy by professing that he abolished the Law and claimed to be God and secondly to curse the Roman nations through the idolatrous worship of a human being.

well ----yes----seems to me that Paul decided to create a religion based on HIS hallucinations.
He was quite a prolific HALLUCINATOR----in medicine---it suggests a lesion of the Right
