...the 2016 Presidential election turned into a four candidate race? Theoretically, this could happen if Trump and Sanders/Bloomberg ran as independents. How would it turn out? Would any one candidate receive a majority of Electoral votes? If not, the election would go to the House, where each State's delegation would cast a single vote. Would this be done by existing or newly elected Members? Who would become the next President?

We are living in interesting times, no?

The new House would vote. The Republican candidate would become the next President.

What if (s)he received the fewest popular votes and no electoral votes?

No electoral votes? LOL!

In case NO candidate gets the prescribed number the top 2 with the most electoral votes would be sent to the House for a decision by that body.

If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. Each state delegation has one vote. The Senate would elect the Vice President from the 2 Vice Presidential candidates with the most Electoral votes. Each Senator would cast one vote for Vice President. If the House of Representatives fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.
