It was a show of the economic alliance he has at his disposable now..

Biden wants a type of TPP deal to deal with BRIC countries.. This will not only protect and enhance US but will also protect other nations in the region... A TPP sized free trade zone with access to a low wage market who have free trade with US would be incredible for all members..

The main criticism was that there would be a way to appeal some cases above the US Supreme Court, this happens in Europe, the court is called the European Court of Justice (ECJ).. BTW, generally this is a very popular institution in Europe... There has been many cases in the past of individuals suing there own government and winning there (Politicians don't like it as much). The ECJ is outside national politics and politically appointed judges, they are free of such things, they are about the laws... This came to a head with Hungry recently, Orban (leader of Hungry) is basically corrupt (he is worth about €600m euro), Europe wanted him to clean up his act and give more freedom... He is getting sued by individuals in his own state and they are appealing to ECJ as Orban has control of the local judges..
