Once that happens, a first strike becomes possible, as the retaliatory strike capability would greatly diminished.

Israel doesn't fly E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft.

Israel uses E-2 Hawkeye AWACS aircraft (same as the U.S.navy) for a key reason. The Hawkeyes are designed to fit into the hangars of aircraft carriers which means they are much more compact and can more easily fit into hardened aircraft shelters.
