Was this outcome anticipated? If it wasn't, why not?

You don't have to "spin" Trump's mistakes into "negative propaganda". Nearly everything he does has a bad outcome.

His tariff's have resulted in negative job creation, higher prices, and a loss of foreign investment in manufacturing. He's bombed 8 different countries since he took office, and started a war with Iran.

Then there's his killing American civilians in the streets. Cutting poor people off their health insurance and food stamps, to fund tax breaks for the wealthy.
Nothing that can be said will penetrate the alternative reality bubble they live in.

You don't need to ban guns or have people going door to door to take guns away from people.

60% of Canadian households own guns, but handguns are strictly regulated, and you have to prove a NEED to carry a handgun. It makes it easy for the police to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Anyone with a handgun is a criminal.

But you all don’t have a second amendment.

If they want to do that here, there are many hurdles they have to overcome.

But you all don’t have a second amendment.
As noted by former Justice Scalia, the 2nd A does not prevent the regulation of guns. If it did an assault weapons ban would not have become law.

No, there are not many hurdles to overcome. You banned AR style weapons before and you can do it again.

You can stop just giving guns to anyone who wants one and start controlling who gets them. That’s what background checks are for except you keep looking for ways to encourage idiots to buy guns.

There are any number of things that you could be doing but you’re not. Even the right to worship as you see fit is limited. Blood sacrifices are illegal. Female gender mutilation is illegal. These are solid religious practises in some parts of the world that your First Amendment freedom of religion clause would seem to allow.

You completely ignore the “well regulated militia” caveat in the 2nd Amendmen and hinge everything on the notion that access to weapons must not be “infringed”. But you have no problem, infringing on the rights of religious people who believe in blood sacrifice.

Maersk, a bellwether for global trade, suspends two key shipping services due to Iran war

Danish shipping giant Maersk on Friday temporarily suspended two services linking the Middle East to Asia and Europe as the Iran war continues to disrupt global supply chains.

The company, widely regarded as a barometer of global trade, said the decision to halt the FM1 service, connecting the Far East to the Middle East, and the ME11 Service, linking the Middle East to Europe, was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of its personnel and vessels.

It comes as the U.S. and Israeli-led war on Iran enters its seventh day, with the expanding conflict resulting in the effective halt of shipping traffic through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The waterway is a key, narrow maritime corridor that connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Roughly 20% of global oil and gas typically passes through it.

Container shipping giants, however, have suspended operations through the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran on Feb. 28 and rerouted vessels around the southern tip of Africa.

WTI crude tops $86, hits highest level since April 2024, Brent crude breaks above $89 a barrel

Iran borders the Straight of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil is shipped. Anyone familiar with the geography of the region knows this. And they knew how disruptive to shipping through the straight an attack on Iran would be. You'd have to be a moron not to understand this.

Begging the question, is the inevitable impact of trump's war with Iran the reason he did not take the legal route of seeking the approval of Congress to start it? Is it part of the plan?

Or one could ask, was a spike in the price of oil anticipated but dismissed as a price to be paid by US consumers (like the tariffs have been) worthy of the end game? I guess we'd have to know what the end game is before answering that question. Was it regime change?

Son of Khamenei Is Top Contender for Supreme Leader

Mojtaba Khamenei would likely lead country in even more hard-line direction

If it was, the war trump unnecessarily started was a reckless roll of the dice. The narrative for the rationale to start the war has constantly shifted leaving the timing of the off ramp in doubt. If Khamenei's kid becomes the leader does the war go on until he is killed too? Do we keep killing Iran's chosen leader until they pick one the master of regime change likes? If oil breaks over $90 a barrel does that change the calculus for ending the war?

Are members of the regime asking themselves these questions? Or is the US hostage to an oft used approach of trump's he has articulated quite often?

Trump’s catchphrase for any circumstance: “We’ll see”

WASHINGTON (AP) — When in doubt, President Donald Trump has a ready-made response to any questions: “We’ll see.”

On Wednesday, Trump delivered his go-to line repeatedly. Asked if he would tie debt ceiling legislation to Harvey relief: “We’ll see.” On his plans for an increasingly aggressive North Korea: “We’ll see.” And on efforts to work with the Chinese president: “We’ll see how that works out.”

Well Venezuela is making a fortune right now.

Navy’s Avenger Class Mine Hunters Have Left The Middle East For Good

Four decommissioned U.S. Navy Avenger class mine countermeasures ships have left Bahrain on what may be their final voyage aboard a larger heavy lift vessel. Avengers had been forward-deployed to the Middle Eastern nation for years, where critical mine countermeasures duties have now passed to Independence class Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).

The public affairs office for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and U.S. 5th Fleet first released pictures of the M/V Seaway Hawk, a contracted semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, carrying the former Avenger class ships USS Devastator, USS Dextrous, USS Gladiator, and USS Sentry last Friday. The Navy released more images and a brief statement yesterday. The date stamps on the pictures show the Avengers were physically loaded onto the Seaway Hawk in Bahrain on January 9.

The Navy acquired 14 Avenger class ships between 1987 and 1994. Four of them are still in service, all of which are forward-deployed in Japan, but are also slated for decommissioning in the coming years.

What a clown show.

Trump says he’ll tap Strategic Petroleum Reserve to cut energy costs

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he will tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to help lower energy costs during the Iran war.

“We’ll do that, and then we’ll fill it up,” Trump said in an interview with Cincinnati broadcaster WKRC.

“I filled it up once, and I’ll fill it up again, but right now, we’ll reduce it a little bit, and that brings the prices down,” the president said.

Gasoline prices in the U.S. have risen to about $3.58 per gallon on average as the Iran war has triggered a massive disruption of global oil supplies, according to motorist group AAA. The current retail price is nearly 22% higher than the same period last month when gas cost about $2.94.

Trump’s comments come after the International Energy Agency agreed Wednesday to release 400 million barrels of oil to address the supply disruption. It is the largest release in the more than 50-year history of the IEA.

The SPR is depleted after Biden used it following Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Dotard has had over a year to fill it back up with oil prices in the mid $60's per barrel. He didn't.

US oil production is up. It will be up more after Trump uses emergency powers to drill off CA.
The US is swimming in oil and VZ is just ramping up.
Oil should head back down to the $50s, then he'll refill and top off the SPR

If it dropped to the $50s it would kill the US domestic oil industry.

Trump won't be using emergency powers for anything. It's unlikely he'll be President much longer at the pace he's mentally deteriorating. Then there's the Epstein files, that just keep getting worse and worse for him.

You have NOTHING in Venezuela. You've even had to close your embassy and call your citizens home. American companies are NOT going in to take the oil, because of political instability, in both the USA and Venzuela.

YOU CANNOT CONQUER A PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT YOU IN THEIR COUNTRY. Have you learned NOTHING in Viet Nam, Iraq or Afghanistan?????

American oil companies are using the world benchmark prices to profiteer. Ain't capitalism grand???

As others have said, if oil went back down to $50 a barrel, it's not worth taking it out of the ground.

How come Trump & his "gang who couldn't think straight" didn't anticipate that Iran would retaliate by cutting off 20% of the world's oil supply? His own energy secretary said a few days ago that he wasen't "concerned" about it -said no one with a brain. Ever.

Trump & his gang are the most incompetent bunch of assclowns who ever sat foot in D.C. You can't make this shit up.

Why can't you understand the price of oil is set by a global marketplace? If oil is in short supply around the world domestic production levels don't matter much. The US is already a net exporter of oil but that hasn't stopped WTI crude from going much higher. $91 a barrel this morning, up 4+%. It will continue to go higher as long as Iran is able to maintain its blockade of the strait.

15th post
Iran should stop pursuing a nuke and extorting money from martime traffic in the Stair of Hormuz.

Also, they should stop all the pedophilia and misogyny pushed by the Islamic Theocracy.

THEY HAVE PLENTY OF OIL TO SELL, THEY DO NOT NEED TO EXTORT MONEY BY THREATENING SHIPS IN THE STRAT OF HORMUZ.

The septum ring blue haired beeches who cry about poor Iran should forking go there and see how they are treated.

Useful dumb forks.

He's just jealous that he doesn't own oil company stocks

“The key question is, why is the market rallying despite this large release? First, there are no signs of de-escalation in the Persian Gulf, so there is no end in sight to the disruptions to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz,” strategists at Dutch bank ING said in a research note published Thursday.

“As we have said repeatedly, the only way to see oil prices trade lower on a sustained basis is by getting oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz. Failing to do so means that the market highs are still ahead of us,” they added.

That is the ballgame at the moment. If Iran can keep the strait blocked to maritime traffic oil goes higher and the world's economies suffer. Full stop.

You have to be a moron not to have understood this would happen in the aftermath of the attack. But somehow, the regime didn't.
