He points out that true freedom, with all its choices and pitfalls, scares them. They want an authoritarian to simplify it all for them, to lead them, and to eliminate anything and anyone who complicates things for them.

One wonders if these most recent machinations are part of a "Rope-a-Dope" scheme on Trump's part. He makes vague promises to keep the negotiations going while the ports blockade slowly kills Iran's economy and foments sufficient anger among the population to drive out the Regime.

From all reliable reports, the situation in Iran is past-intolerable. The currency is worthless, consumer goods are drying up, the Grid is in shambles, and water has become incredibly scarce, especially in Tehran. Meanwhile, Trump is doing whatever he can to prevent Oman from making good on a US$12B "loan" to the regime, which would take some pressure off.

Regardless, one way or another, Iran will need some help as it tries to dig its way out of the destruction of recent months; why not help and make a profit in the bargain?
