Was this outcome anticipated? If it wasn't, why not?

It wants to keep the strait closed. You better start caring.
Your Mullah buddies days of getting what they want is over, Short Bus.

They are all picking out their favorite virgin goat.

Republicans define victory in Iran as whatever Trump says it is

When it comes to defining victory in Iran, many Republicans on Capitol Hill have a simple answer: Ask President Donald Trump.

As the U.S. war with Iran closes in on the two-week mark, Republicans are eager to tout military accomplishments — including degrading Iran’s missile capabilities — but they are less clear on what a victory looks like.

Asked what defines a “win,” Sen. Josh Hawley’s deference to Trump was so strong that the Missouri Republican said he wouldn’t be able to answer what victory in Iran looks like until Trump declares it.

“Not ’til he says so,” Hawley said.

Trump won’t say what exactly the objective in Iran is. Republicans are just fine with that.

Leadership of the POT is showing absolute deference to an absolute moron.

How is it false if we say something like "we will destroy one powerplant for every tanker you hit"?
You don't know what a false dichotomy is, do you.

Iran is not ending. That was never the plan. There was to be no regime change. The fact there was no forward deployment of troops was the giveaway, you poor dumb rube.

There was no plan except to distract you from Trump's failures at home and his Epstein coverup.

A situation in which two alternative points of views are presented as the only options, whereas others are available.

Keep watching dumbo.
The only "failures" are the Never-Trumpers who enabled the Biden presidency.

Right back atcha, rube.

The son of the Ayatollah Trump killed is the new head cleric. You think he has warm feelings toward America right now?

Are you prepared to join up and be one of the boots on the ground that would be required for regime change, big brave MAGA boi?

You ready to die for the draft dodging Bone Spur? He's really courageous with other people's lives.

He sees soldiers as cannon fodder for his reckless actions who are chumps and losers.

Bessent is on the tape saying the US Navy will escort tankers as soon as it's militarily possible. Chris Wright already said that won't be until the end of the month. Secondarily, is it possible to do without incident?

Giving Iran a shot at US ships is risky. We know they want to kill Americans.
But if we open the Straight it may be worth the risk, if we have adequate defense systems on the escorts.

I still like the idea of saying, "for every ship Iran attacks we destroy one electrical powerplant"

More likely Iran would be targeting the floating bombs being escorted. What tanker company will take the risk unless they have a virtual 100% guarantee their ships don't get blown up?

Trump wants U.S. Navy to escort tankers through the Gulf. Why that plan may not work

100 a day

About 100 tankers and cargo vessels pass through the Strait daily under normal conditions, said Matt Smith, an oil analyst at Kpler, and about 400 tankers are currently stuck in the Gulf due to the war.

“There’s hundreds and hundreds of vessels still in the Mideast Gulf,” said Matt Wright, a senior freight analyst, also at Kpler. The U.S. Navy would take “an inordinate amount of time to escort them even a few at a time.”

Trump’s promise to escort tankers if necessary, and provide political risk insurance to their owners, helped calm the oil market Tuesday and Wednesday.

Even if the strait isn't completely closed oil will go higher until the normal volume of ships pass thru.

Actually it was the insurance companies who said "do not go".

Trump backstopped the insurance companies, saying "go thru, we will cover any damages"

If our escorts can shoot down drones and anti-ship missiles they should be okay, I also like saying "for every ship you attack you lose a powerplant".

If Iran loses power they lose drinking water.
