Warehouse Robots Improve Efficiency by 800%; How Will Workers Survive in this Future?

The maintenance crews in these so called robots warehouses are still quite large. Throw in refrigerated warehouses and the maintenance crews grow even larger.

And the pay tends to be pretty good if you're strong in motor controls, energy management and refrigeration.

40 an hour or so plus very liberal benefits. Stock options like 3 for 1 and so on. Don't bother applying if you're afraid of heights.
Which will last until maintenance is performed by maintenance robots.

What we're discussing here is called "the singularity," which is the day that computers become smarter than human beings and take over the world. There won't be any task that computers/robots won't be able to do, and do it far better than a human.
That will never happen. A computer can only do what it was programmed for. All its doing is reading binary code that a human compiled since it cant think for itself.

Never heard of artificial intelligence ?
How do you think that happens?

I'm not scared of nano tech at all. I want to never have to carry a purse or wallet again; implant all of it [credit cards, drivers license, ATM card/bank account info, birth certificate, etc.) in my arm, I'll wear an RFDI bracelet no prob. I want an eyeball "mounted" heads up display so I can look stuff up no matter where I am, network it to my computer so I can leave myself notes and stuff while I'm running around. I want a brain controlled computer interface, I want to think my cursor around the screen and more. Give me nano medical bugs that you swallow and they swim around fixing everything. These things are awesome to me.

I am 100% geek and addicted to my computer no doubt. I've had a computer since 1986 or something like that, I build them, I mod them, I speak their language.

How does man destroy himself ? Easy.

Imagine billions of nanobots released and programmed to attack the cells of your heart if you have type O blood.

No. how do you think AI is achieved? Do you think the robots start thinking on their own for real or it is simulating the thinking process?

mmm nano wars... ya know, when I was a kid, my group of geek friends and I had a game - we'd code up viruses and then sick it on our "opponents" computer, the goal was to stop the virus before it required a reformat of your system. Nano wars can, and will be, combatted similarly.

I'm worried about control. if anyone can use nano technology whats to stop or even detect terrorist attacks....or even worse? How do you combat something you dont know is occurring until its too late?

How do you stop a biological attack? Even if we want to presume that some random enemy has the technology, resources, and knowledge to create a nao-weapon, they are going to need a means for "infecting" the enemy. Just as there are lots of ways to "inject" the bots, there's lots of ways to stop them from being "injected" - and we're talking about clothes here, not the coding aspect.

At present, it's being discussed to be regulated similar to nuclear weapons; no one can do this or that (self-replication and the "grey goo" fear is one of the proposed regulations.) We'll see what happens there, but I believe atm only the US and Europe have the means to even consider nano-technology on any serious level.

Personally, I'd suggest we acquire a monopoly on it now and prevent it from being an issue heh

Why would anyone assume an attack? Once automation removes the necessity of humans from menial jobs, rulers will be removing their own excess baggage.

exactly, it's that the talent/ skill will change with the machines, just like in a car manufacturing plant. The human piece does not die because of a machine, the skill level does.

This is an example of how the Third Industrial or Digital Revolution is making human labor obsolete. How will working class people survive with 90% unemployment rates? How will conservatives adjust their rhetoric to survive? Will we see socialism take over both parties?

These warehouse robots can boost productivity by 800%
Hopefully we downsize. In the future, maybe people don't have kids or have as many kids. And poor people should stop having kids. Maybe eventually we won't have poor people. Cut the population in half.

That post was fucking stupid enough to be typical of you, fish.

Why are you so fascinated with keeping poor people from procreating?

Of all the endeavors known to man that is the least likely to every be successful.

Business won't survive without customers.

At no point will their potential customer base go to absolute zero.

It will dwindle like an anemic junkie.

I don't want there to be poor people in the future. Think avatar. Were any of those people hungry? Unemployed? World Population Clock: 7.4 Billion People (2016) - Worldometers

7 billion 400 million reasons why

There were no poor people in Avatar. The blue people lived off the land.

If the premise is that one will be able to essentially print up their own products (which is coming a lot faster than folks think imo) and we get into nanotech and stuff, then we're talking about the end of world hunger and generally speaking "poor people."

I'm a capitalist so I say we keep the tech for ourselves and sell it to the other countries to support stuff we want to do in the US that would cost "money" - space travel, research, and so forth - this would also ensure that we had working folks here in the country and prevent some of the negative side effects of stagnation. I'd actually very much like to see the US as a country where "success" was measured on less monetary terms as an incentive to replace money, though I'm a touch to realist to see that happening.
