What is seldom mentioned as a source of revenue that SHOULD be included in the GOP tax proposal, is the placement of a small tax on each and every Wall Street transaction.

Billions every year could be realized in imposing such a tax, especially in our current booming stock market......However, care to guess WHO is against such a proposal???

The American worker who have retirement plans, that's who.

Would those people be the ones who believe in capitalism when the market goes up, and socialism when the market goes down?

Even a penny tax each transaction, not on each share.

They already pay 15 to 20% on taxes and you want them to take more of their retirement money?
This is what the workers of America is rebelling against ,the government taking more of their money.
It is the taking of hard earned dollars taxed over and over again till it becomes double then triple on the same exact items.
The more taxes government takes, it takes away disposable income that grows the economy.

We are double and tripled tax now, and yet they want to do away with deductions, except when it benefits the wealthy. There is a small problem with people putting all their money in the market, they spend less. Saving bundles of money is not always good, if people are not spending.

I understand your point, but putting money in the market is not growing he economy. People can also lose their shirt in the market.

ME! I' against it.

I have little interest or money in the stock market, but I am totally against such a tax.

Why? Because I am against ANY tax on the use of money which has already been taxed. I don' believe the Government (at any level) should get multiple bites at the "apple" of oir income. If they tax it at the source (via income tax) then that's it.

The working poor are barely surviving. They can careless about saving for retirement or HSA, they just worry about today.
I remember when savings in a bank use to draw a nice interest. Who makes out in the market, hedge funds and corps who will screw you royal.

It does not just stay in the market.
You save with growth and loss, then it's cashed in and you use it in the economy.
And then it's taxed again as you spend it.

Why is that?
Could it be that there is no disposable income any longer for the poor?

Yes that is why they are called working poor.

Yet you want more disposable income going to the government?
That is exactly what is harming our poor.

Yeah let's just take more money from the millions of people who invest in their 401k or IRA

What is needed is the elimination of ALL federal income taxes....so as to starve the monster.
