Walt Whitman would not hear America singing today.

Has America sold its soul to China? Go anywhere in United states and purchase something that does not say “made in China”. That is a tall order. Everything from the dinnerware on your table to the computer on your desk was probably manufactured at a giant industrial plant in a massive business district of a Chinese city. Walt Whitman’s 1855 free verse anthem to blue-collar, hard-working citizens hammering nails, laying pipes, hauling materials and mortaring bricks, many of whom had come from places where they had nothing and nothing to look forward to, was music to Whitman’s ears in “I hear America Singing”.

Whitman knew that he lived in a time and place where rank and file members of society were free to use their sweat equity to build a life of happiness and personal success. This was going on at a time when most of the world’s civilizations were tightly controlled by intellectuals and aristocrats cracking the whip of oppression on the masses. Whitman’s happy song would be a dirge for America today.

While America’s plebian multitudes built the greatest country on Earth, Its cultured class, unable to resist the urge to bend the gears of the machine to favor itself, has been working behind the scenes to steal the dream and sellout its thriving middle class.

It began with a New-Deal mentality fostering a dependence on government and has metastasized into a managed plantation of central planning with academics and political operatives on top herding a serf population of controlled underlings in a two-class system commensurate with the historical nightmares most of America’s original immigrants were trying to escape. Whitman’s rising middle class has been crushed under the heel of the hive mind of socialism.

What happened to our middle class? It was sold to China by our leadership for future considerations. With company pensions and affordable health insurance gone forever except for the upper classes of politicians and public-sector-union represented propaganda merchants in higher education, the outlook is dire.

This is why when Trump dared to challenge the economic and ideological traitors with “Make America Great Again”, the countries corrupt leadership went into overdrive to cancel the impudence of the working class for having the gall to elect an outsider to expose a seditious government not unlike what the country’s founders warned against.

America has a chance to keep what it needs or it could end up with what it deserves.

It was not sold it was taken away by wealthy elites who wanted to be richer, but hey, let us blame the socialist that have nothing to do with what capitalist do.

Walt Whitman would be listening to America sing on Beats Bluetooth headphones, made in China.

This is a first. I agree with you that US industry has acquiesced in the sellout. They saw an opportunity to expand globally and they did not hesitate. Corporations are people you know. They needed a ticket to pay for their seat in the game and that ticket was was purchased with your pensions. job security and health insurance.

Not mine, I have multiple trades for local work. Corporations may have people running them but they are not human.

The blob hasn't made anything greater except his bank account.
There tons more on the internet if you want them...

The new deal came about because capitalism and a series of do nothing republican presidents wasn't working. After the new deal, the middle class was doing pretty good up until about the 1980's. Along comes Reagan saying that government is the problem. The middle class has gone downhill since. The power of a few words by a simple guy like Reagan along with huge tax cuts for the very wealthy and corporations several times by Reagan, Bush jr. , and trump has gutted the great middle class. Well, that's the socialist or liberal interpretation any way and I tend to agree with it having seen the changes taking place.
