Zone1 Virginity and Sexual Promiscuity

As a 75 year old man, this subject is far off my normal radar screen, but I occasionally see comms by young adults on the subjects of virginity and sex. Through a process that I missed, I occasionally get "reddit" communications on the topic of "Am I the Asshole?"

When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's, girls and boys were taught that sex outside marriage was sinful, and should be avoided. As a further inducement, it was mentioned that sex often results in pregnancy, and in some cases, even a "social disease." This latter point was merely a footnote, since even if we were fooling around it would not be with people who were promiscuous or who patronized prostitutes. But at the time, there were no birth control pills and abortion was simply not an option. If you got pregnant, you had better come up with a husband, or your father would.

But the basic admonishment, to girls in particular, was, this is sinful, it is immoral, and sex is something you can look forward to when you get married. It was also widely considered that young men might not want to marry a young woman who was not a virgin, and believe me, this was a real concern. It was rare but not unheard of for a marriage proposal to be revoked (or whatever) when the man learned that the woman was not a virgin.

Among my own friends, while few couples were both virgins when they got married, for about half of them their girlfriend/fiance/wife was their first sexual partner. (And last, if you want to know the truth).

Are girls today even told that promiscuous sex is immoral, or sinful, or even unethical? Would a parent today even have a basis for telling his daughter such a thing? With no religion, on what would that admonishment be based? Seriously. If she "takes precautions," what do parents say to them to deter them from sexual promiscuity...when heading off to college, for example?

Or do they even give a shit?

Well said. I have never met an irreligious person who objected to sex outside marriage on moral grounds.

How many partners does it take to be promiscuous? Most of my peers lived together before marriage, I did, and I'm only a little younger than you. I strongly encouraged my daughter to live with her boy friend before they married since it carries no sigma anymore and probably avoids many a divorce.
That's terrible advice you gave your daughter. Cohabitation is one of those things that sounds good, but always fails. in one way or another.

Failure to prepare is preparing to fail. In america it's wise to have a surplus of money before entering into marriage. Working together and building together is no longer viable. Money problems are huge contributors to divorce. Waiting is simply now the better choice especially for the nation.
Waiting is acceptable only if they aren't having sex.

Lib culture promotes and glorifies promiscuity

Being a virgin is the only social disease young girls are taught to be ashamed of

Said the guy with the secret religion that no one knows but him.

you lost the heavenly religion jesus represented when you choose christianity and their 4th century book of forgeries, lies and fallacies the christian bible -

the heavenly spoken religion of antiquity is only 6 words in length - your 10000 pg book is nothing but a smokescreen for evil to flourish as verified by recorded history.

Always fails? That sounds like ideology/theology, not fact.

My wife and I lived together for years before we got married and we've been married 45+ years, my daughter has been happily married for 10 years, so I think it safe to say it doesn't always fail.

So you're saying it worked for you, so it works for everyone? And also, it could be that some people are marriage material and some definitely not, yet people often get married bc they "are in love" which says absolutely nothing about whether or not they are long-term compatible.. So people are messing up their own lives (their hearts and minds) with this "serial monogamy" and messing up same w/ whomever they sleep with.. On top of that, they bring much baggage to the next relationship that comes along (insecurity, distrust of the opposite sex.. you name it).

very bad

Can't speak for anyone but me. You're right about the baggage but only if they bring your hang ups with them. I don't know how old you are but you sound like my parents. Or possibly worse.

Where's your evidence for this alleged heavenly spoken religion of antiquity which is only 6 words in length?

You should bang as many chicks as you can. Just be careful about it.

you run from the evidence each time when given to you -

the catastrophic event, time of noah is the reiteration of the heavenly religion, goal granted a&e to accomplish for them to be judged for admission to the everlasting - the events of the 1st century and the religion jesus taught and was crucified for ...

despite the desert religions, persecution and victimization of the innocent championed by the likes of christians, jews and muslims, bing adorns all three and most people living in texas known as the bible belt nation wide.

the temptation is the same, not the outcome till answers have been found for their choosing they gladly accept as is natures way.

- not everyone is - another example who's side the heavens chose in the 1st century - not that of the liar moses or false religion, commandments of judaism.

You've never provided any evidence for anything.
