My point was that China has not launched an aggressive action since 1979, I didn't compare 1979 to 1950.

China was trying to take pressure off their ally, Cambodia. However, once word started getting out about how bad things were in Cambodia, they did kind of a "Well, never mind". In short, cooler heads prevailed.



Actually, again, it was kind of the opposite. China sees a multi-national force gathering in Korea and marching towards their border, they had every right to be concerned, especially since we were financing and bankrolling a rival government in Taiwan.

A couple of weeks ago, I was with my wife (a Chinese National) at the Art Institute of Chicago, and we were touring the gallery of Chinese artworks with artifacts from various dynasties. And a question she asked was, "Were these treasures looted during the Eight Nation War". (For those playing along at home, the Eight-Nation War is what the Chinese call the response to the Boxer Rebellion.)

China was subjected to numerous invasions over the century before the Korean War. The Opium Wars (where the west fought them over the right to poison them with Opium), the Boxer Rebellion, and the Japanese invasion that started in 1931 with the annexation of Manchuria. So the Chinese reaction to a UN force in Korea was pretty predictable.

Again, you will not find a reputable historian who has researched the USS Liberty incident who claims that Israel knew the ship was American and purposely attacked it anyway.
