LOS ANGELES, CA — Democrats have unleashed vicious attack ads accusing L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt of not wanting to destroy the state of California.

The new series of ads features devastating videos of Pratt saying things like "I don't think California should be reduced into a pile of rubble."

"Spencer Pratt wants to keep Los Angeles from burning to ash," says the narrator for the ad. "He wants to put violent criminals in jail, stop giving free money to drug addicts, and let firefighters use water to put out fires. Let's keep California crumbling. Let's keep away from Spencer Pratt."

Several unions have joined forces to target Pratt, pooling their money to get the word out. "This isn't a game. We want people to understand the potential consequences of voting for someone like Pratt," said union boss Marty Bellamy. "We could have a functional power grid. Criminals might not be able to ransack stores with impunity. It's even possible that you might be able to walk down the street without fearing for your very life. There could be terrible real-world repercussions of putting someone like this in power."

At publishing time, Democrats had released a new ad accusing Pratt of wanting kids in the L.A. school system to learn how to read.

He has some good policies. Sane policies. Probably doesnt have a chance. It is LA...

I listened to that union ad that was made, and I honestly thought at first that it was a parody. Pratt should play it non-stop up until the election.

Union-Funded Anti-Spencer Pratt Ad Sparks Backlash — Critics Say It Could Help Him

A union-funded attack ad against Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt has gone viral and is drawing sharp criticism from some political figures who argue it may have inadvertently boosted his campaign.

Ad’s Content and Funding

The 30‑second digital ad, costing $221,000, was run by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL‑CIO, through an independent expenditure committee called LA Unions Opposed to Spencer Pratt for Mayor 2026 Fox News+1. It criticized Pratt for:

  • Opposing taxpayer‑funded permanent housing for the homeless, instead favoring “help or get out” approaches.
  • Supporting thousands more police officers over more social workers.
  • Calling for reduced power of public employee unions Fox News+1.
The ad urged voters to reject “Republican Spencer Pratt” and stay on the “right track” Fox News.

Why It’s Backfiring

While intended to weaken Pratt, the ad’s messaging resonates with many Angelenos frustrated by homelessness, crime, and perceived city mismanagement dailypresser.com. Critics note that Pratt’s positions on homelessness and policing align with public sentiment, making the ad’s criticisms feel like common sense to some voters dailypresser.com.

Online and Political Reaction

  • Sen. Ted Cruz amplified the ad on X, writing, “This attack ad could well elect Pratt” Fox News+1.
  • Some conservatives and right‑wing commentators mocked the ad, calling it an “incredible ad” supporting Pratt MSN+1.
  • Social media users joked that the ad functioned more like a pro‑Pratt spot, with one saying, “This is supposed to be an attack ad??? Lolol” Sean Hannity.
  • The controversy has energized Pratt’s base and increased his visibility ahead of the June 2 primary MSN.

Strategic Implications

Analysts suggest the ad may be a calculated move to help Pratt secure second place in the primary, setting up a general election matchup against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in a heavily Democratic city MSN. This mirrors past California politics tactics where one side boosts a weaker opponent to improve general election odds MSN.

Pratt’s Campaign Context

Pratt, a former The Hills star and registered Republican, is running an independent, nonpartisan campaign focusing on safety, infrastructure, and local issues MSN. His strong debate performance criticizing the city’s handling of homelessness and crime has already boosted his profile MSN.

Bottom line: The union‑funded ad was meant to hurt Pratt, but its tone and framing may have amplified his appeal to voters seeking change, potentially giving him an unexpected boost in the race

This isn't even satire anymore. Their ad they ran literally complained about him NOT wanting to fleece the taxpayers to subsidize the irresponsible lifestyle of homeless drug addicts and dealers. I'm not even joking, here's the ad:

They will shoot him then.

Perhaps they should start rigging elections again instead so they can lay low for a while.

It's mindboggling that they actually released that. I still wonder if it's real.
