USMB Coffee Shop IV

My DR of 30some yrs is retiring Jan 2. His clinic was just in MPLS so time to change clinics too. Something closer, they have 2 clinic within 3 miles of me which is nice

Got a wedding tomorrow. Brothers son is getting married. He is working towards being an airline pilot for the big boys but ya gotta work your way up. He is flight instructor for beginners on Piper Cubs. One of his students damn near killed him....that's not for me, not being killed by an idiot.

It's a little scary changing doctors, especially when you've been with one you trusted for so long. But you may like your new one even better.

Thunderbird Aviation?

They don't fly Cubs for basic instruction -taildragger...When I flew Pipers, it was the Tomahawk (woefully underpowered) and the Warrior II (Cherokee design).

Wonderful, easy to fly aircraft.

Yes. I would think teaching driving of anything--cars, trucks, busses, planes, whatever would be a really stressful job. :)

I don't know since I've never been behind the controls of any airplane ever. (I have flown as a passenger in a lot of them but never in a really small plane. The smallest was about a 10 or 12 passenger.

My Uncle Ed by marriage though got his pilot's license in high school flying a Piper I think Cub. Flew many others over the year and though that Cub was the easiest, most forgiving plane he had flown. He trained as a Marine fighter pilot in WWII. Back in the states, there were no pilot jobs available so he trained and became an EMT and then was admitted to med school. But then Braniff called him, he quit med school and trained and became a pilot for them flying out of Dallas for almost 20 years. Developed glaucoma though and they made him quit. He spent the rest of his working life at Texas Instruments in Dallas as a master machinist--he trained and picked up on that quickly too. Amazing guy.

The line to get into State Farm Center now exceeds its capacity, and probably did before dawn...Estimates are for 300,000 to show up...I say that's lowball.

And the estimated up to 100,000 inside the stadium plus the tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands? that couldn't get in stayed there for five five plus hours of a great tribute to one of our Americans who has been a huge blessing to America and the world. It has been an amazing day.

Neighbors maple tree was impeding the growth of my line of lilacs between us so I zipped off 3ft so it can match the height of the rest. He didn't care.
