USMB Coffee Shop IV

Been having some physical issues over the last couple of months. Over the last two weeks I sleep upright in my entertainment chair, a hour here, two hours there......... Also at the same time my lower extremities blew up like Macy's parade balloons. So yesterday I spent a lovely 6 hours in the ER. they ruled out cardiac but suspect my breathing problem may be COPD related and the edema medication related. Follow up with my primary soon. They gave me steroids and a nebulizer at the ER and I have temp meds to take, antibiotic, steroidal, diuretic and inhalant. I already feel better with what they gave me at the ER.

Personally I still think it's allergy related, maybe black mold somewhere in the house.

I hope you get better soon.

I am also struggling with respiratory trouble that happens on and off -- not a continuous thing at all. Doc said it might be very mild COPD, and when I asked him about the possibility that it could be related to this year's INTENSE humidity locally, he couldn't rule it out.

If you find some mold, look for products called "Thieves" -- an essential oil blend that is a wicked fungal bomb! It's made by a company called Young Living. Comes in small bottles of the oil blend, as well as a couple of formulated cleaning products.

Good wishes to you and healing!

There should be one place in the USMB village where folks can just be themselves and get to know each other as we would if we lived next door or worked together or joined the same gym.

This is a place to just come in and say hi, let us know what's going on with you these days, celebrate joys, concerns, jokes, music, hobbies, interests, love and life.

So check your spurs, sidearms, politics, and religious fussing at the door, come in to enjoy an adult beverage or a hot cup of coffee and a piece of pie or whatever comforts your soul, and let's just enjoy each other.

So sorry you're having the problem but glad the meds are helping. Hopefully your primary will run the proper tests for a firm diagnosis.

Will keep you and OhPleaseJustQuit in my thoughts more often. The most concerning possible diagnosis for both of you is the COPD, but fortunately it is controllable especially when caught early.

Coffee Shoppers view it quite a bit differently than that. But those who can get into the spirit of it find it a lovely refuge from the 'fights' and other uglies on the board.

So welcome Hafar1014. First timers to the Coffee Shop receive a complimentary beverage.

As long as we're fessing up some issues here, I have been diagnosed with a fairly large area of basal cell (best kind to have) cancer on my scalp. Met with the onocologist yesterday who will treat/cure it with radiation every day for four weeks beginning at the end of this month or possibly into next month. That won't be fun but better than surgery. Prayers and positive vibes will be appreciated.

One problem with Docs is if they know you're a smoker or former smoker (as in my case) their bias is always towards Cardiopulmonary and COPD. That's the primary reason I'm skeptical of the ER doc's tentative diagnosis. The only shortness of breath I have is due to lack of proper exercise.
But not being a doctor I'm not ruling it out either.
The biggest pain right now is I also have a sore on the inside of my thigh, up near my crotch........ Sitting in a normal position can be quite irritating. He recommended butt paste for diaper rash......... No, I don't wear diapers. :D

You're on my prayer list.

Using an ointment plus covering it with a large band aid can keep it from further irritation and make it a lot more comfortable though.

They are always looking for a way to blame you. I've experienced that with the loss of my husband, and they tried to blame me for his death.

Hang in there. Take care of yourself.

First timer here too.

I love Vodka. I love Coffee. But Espresso Martinis make me nauseous. Tried them twice - both times - nausea.

15th post
My sweet grandmother went to be with the Lord several hours ago. The best birthday gift I got was being with her until the very last breath. Holding her hand, saying how much I loved her.
Oh TK. I know how close you and your grandmother were/are and what a loss this is for you. But yes, from all you've told us of her over the years, she is with the Lord. I agree it is a blessing to be able to tell a loved one goodbye for now in that way. Still my heart goes out to you in a virtual hug for your loss.

Is this your birthday? I won't wish you a happy birthday, just blessings for many more.

Are you going to be okay? I know you and your grandmother were an important mutual support team for each other.

So happy you dropped in Rawley and hope you will come again and often. Please read over the OP to see what we're all about in here and keep right on joining in.

While Coffee Shop virtual beverages never make anybody sick, I'll assume you would prefer something other than than an espresso martini.

How about a dirty shirley? :)
