USMB Coffee Shop IV

Oh and please do not take the series Vikings as historically accurate. The story line and most of their clothing are Hollywood fantasy. Also there is no definitive evidence that they wore their hair as portrayed or that they sported tattoos or face paint. There is also zero evidence that Vikings wore leather armor of any kind.
Vikings were quite hygienic for their historical age. They bathed regularly, combed their hair and beards and brushed their teeth. Both men and women wore jewelry and were quite fashion conscious for their day. Viking women were not property, they had their roles in the family and society just as the men did. Women could divorce their husbands for different reasons, if their husband died everything went to the wife. Even Rape was against the law, the supposed tales of Vikings raping and pillaging their way across Europe and the British Isles may be highly exaggerated (the rape aspect) from highly biased Anglo-Saxons.
You mean Hagar the Horrible wasn't an accurate portrayal of Viking culture???? :p

Speaking of Viking jewelry, if you want to find historically correct jewelry good luck. It's out there but it's buried under the mass of "claimed to be" or "Viking inspired" jewelry.
One theme we constantly see is the Vegvisir:

Looks very Norse......... Nope it's a much later Icelandic Christian talisman used to ward off evil.

The story that goes with this one is that the homeowner took down the display at the request of a neighbor who thought it too morbid.

What do you think? Too over the top morbid for Halloween? Or really fun and brilliant?

Score one for instinct. Wasnt feeling good Sunday night, Monday rolled around and It wasn't any better. Wasn't in pain but something was off. Went to the urgent care up the street. Guy listed several options to track it down. I said lets do the blood work first. My sodium was at 130. that's not good . Go lower and things really turn bad. Mayo says under 135 is bad. Go to my primary doc Friday, Cant back to work without his say so

Well usually low sodium is a temporary thing but there are some serious conditions that can cause it so it's good you're getting checked out. I admire those who sensibly pay attention when our check engine light comes on. Happens to more and more of us as we get older. But prayers/good vibes/best hope for a quick and helpful diagnosis and a quick fix.

Think I was drinking too much fluid

Guy was trying to kill me. Probably putting down more than the daily dose

Well probably nothing that extreme. But for sure it's a good reminder to us all that we shouldn't panic when we get one bad blood test. We should of course never ignore it, but our doctors are pretty good to figure out the false indicators. In all serious medical things though, a second opinion is usually a pretty good idea.

I'm glad you're okay though. And your feeling a bit 'off' has passed.

No Nothing bad I need a remote I can go back. Something new because Timmy waltz shafted all small business owners we get shafted too. Used to be when ya called in sick they'd ask if you wanted to use a PTO day, now you have to use one

I hear that and you have my sympathies. But be really careful about not getting too political here in the Coffee Shop lest I have to give you "The look!" :)

(Okay to say your state shafted you but it's usually best to keep personalities out of it.)

Found out I could be an urgent care Dr today. Saw my Dr of about 25 yrs. He's looking at the blood read out told him what the guy said and Doc said your sodium was fine.
The first time I saw my VA doc he looked over "my" labs and told me my liver was shot......... I told him my liver was fine and he was looking at someone else's labs. Found out the lab accidentally switched my labs with someone else. Had the labs redone and everything was fine. Mistakes happen. That's why people who have amputations write "NOT THIS LIMB" or "DO NOT AMPUTATE" on the good limb.
