I love Tillamook ice cream and is worth the extra $ to buy it. I would buy their cheese too but it is quite a bit more expensive than Albertson's store brand which we like just as much so. . .We buy the big loaves of Tillamook cheddar in plastic. Sometimes the open end gets a bit fuzzy, but the rest of fine once we cut off the mouldy bit.

Yes I do that too for Hombre on other things. But we do eat a LOT of cheese, especially him, so I'm glad we both like Albertsons.mr. boe loves the Tillamook, so it's worth the extra for us. Given his health issues, he's given up a lot of things, so I don't mind indulging his preference for cheese - and I like it too![]()

I do too. But the nearest Trader Joes is a few miles away. Albertsons is just a few blocks. I think Albertsons sold recently to Krogers but so far they haven't changed much.Sadly, the we don't have an Albertson's near us - but there is now a Trader Joe's where the old one used to be. I love TJs.
Yes. We are seriously considering discontinuing our house cleaning service--they come in to do a 'deep clean' once a month--because they continue to keep raising their prices while not providing any additional service and sometimes not as good a service.Well a few days ago I finally got off my oversized lazy butt and started clearing all the crap in the house. Starting off small which is a good thing as I woke up this morning with muscle aches in places I forgot I had muscles........Mostly below the waist. Of course my light daily exercise regime added to it.
Slow but steady so today is a day of rest, don't want to put myself in the position of being "laid up" for a week or two.
The cleaning aspect isn't too bad for me, it's been the box lifting, carrying and sorting. What hurts the most is the back of my thighs. I definitely over did it because even today they still hurt. However if I sit too much they tighten up even more so I get up and walk around the house about once an hour. Initially I look like a staggering drunk but after a "lap" the muscles loosen up.Yes. But at our age doing certain chores like scrubbing the bathtub, range hood etc. is getting more and more difficult and our physical limitations means we tend to let some things slide that shouldn't. But like you, we don't want to risk injury either.
Bottom line: this old age stuff is better than the alternative, but sometimes it really sucks.

Understand. And it is good to understand our limitations. The cleaning aspect isn't too bad for me, it's been the box lifting, carrying and sorting. What hurts the most is the back of my thighs. Interesting. I have been doing what limited research I can on my father's side of the family that we always assumed was mostly French. There is a bit of snob element to one aspect of that family branch and it claimed links to French royalty. In my getting rid of efforts I found some old "Viking" things I bought a long time ago. The quotation marks are because that designation is somewhat dubious.
While I'm a genetic mutt I'm primarily Norwegian and I have been doing research into Vikings over the last few days. Much of what I thought we knew is either wrong or of questionable interpretation. One thing I already knew is the only people to call the Northmen Vikings were the British Anglo-Saxons. Viking was their work for pirate or brigand. The Vikings called themselves Northmen, Norse, Swedes and Danes, the continental Europeans called them Northmen.
From what I was told I am Norwegian, Belgian (Flemish?), English, French and Indian (Native American). I should do a DNA test just to check but I read very mixed reviews on their accuracy. This is due to a couple of factors mostly because each company's database is different and the depth of their testing is limited. I've also noted it's not cheap especially for someone on a fixed budget.Interesting. As I was chatting with Lisa558 recenty, I'm not finding any links to the French at all, much less royalty, but am finding some suggestions that we could descend from German Jews. (That snobbish element of the family would be rolling in their graves.)
When our daughter was working on her PhD, she worked for a time for a family of orthodox Jews and became interested in that culture. That year she sent us a Happy Hanukkah card with the joking comment that we could have had at least one Jewish kid. Now I'm thinking, maybe we did.![]()
