USMB Coffee Shop IV

By the way, last week I got a call from one of my brothers. He'd just been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was soon to start treatment. He didn't say how advanced it was but from the way he was talking I think they found it early.
He was the one who lost his wife to ALS a while back.

Can I put him on the vigil list? Hombre is a prostate cancer survivor and they did catch it early so that it was corrected with surgery and no chemo or radiation was necessary. That was 19 years ago. Prostate cancer is one of the most treatable of cancers if they get it early.

Yes, please put him on the vigil list. He was named after our father but we always called him Dutch. Even my parents didn't remember why.
Also we used to call him the "milkman's son" as he's the tallest of us four boys by a large margin. LOL

The first time I saw my VA doc he looked over "my" labs and told me my liver was shot......... I told him my liver was fine and he was looking at someone else's labs. Found out the lab accidentally switched my labs with someone else. Had the labs redone and everything was fine. Mistakes happen. That's why people who have amputations write "NOT THIS LIMB" or "DO NOT AMPUTATE" on the good limb.
Yes. And sometimes they make mistakes and/or get false readings in the lab too. I had a really bad thyroid test a few months ago and was alarmed. The doc said she would watch it but would not do anything to treat it just yet. The next lab test, it was perfectly normal.

One of Hombre's nephews once mused: You know, my Dad's name is Gilbert but everyone calls him Squeaky, my brother is Stephen but everyone calls him Toby, I have an Aunt Alma they call Sister and an Uncle Perry they call Brother and and Aunt Linda they call Buzzy and a Cousin Eugene they call Junior. It's like living in a witness protection program. :)

I’m so pleased for you guys, l have close ties to the US.

I think l must have been depressed the last four years. Or a sort of no hope low mood feeling.

So l’m going out shortly, to toast a glass of cremant to you and yours, and even me. At the French cafe. Even though it’s a grey overcast day in Central Europe.

And l’d better keep my mouth shut. It’s so woke here. :safetocomeoutff:

So the pigs got out again last night, it appeared a peaceful protest until the dog got involved. Methinks i'm witness to a pigsurrection here ....~S~

We pray or send positive thoughts or keep vigil for:

Harper, the inspiration for the vigil list. More surgeries ahead.
Ringel05 for continued wellness and his brothers' families for relief from adversity and illness.
Hombre & Foxfyre's son Mike for continued wellness
Beautress for health and wellness.
SFC Ollie for healing and wellness
Gracie for solutions and peace.
Mrs. Saveliberty for healing.
Oddball's mom for continued good health and healing.
Boedicca's brother Douglas for successful treatment and wellness.
Dajjal and his sister with the best possible solution for a difficult situation.
And all our insomniacs having trouble getting a good night's sleep.
Ringel05's brother Dutch for successful treatment.

And we keep the light on so those who have moved on to other places can find their way back. And we hope they do.

Complicated.

I was originally mindful, and due to strange technical mixups,
became expat. So then l decided to choose my own screen name.

I’m still here.;)

I had mentioned earlier where I stated the supposed origin of the word Viking as being from the old English meaning brigand or pirate. I discovered this may be incorrect. The current assertion is most likely that it meant to "go on a journey" AKA going "a viking". One of the biggest challenges to studying that era is the lack of Scandinavian written records. Most written history was done by their enemies hence should be taken with at least a grain of salt.
